Did he see a snap at LB all year? I thought he was moved to defense halfway through the year..

Probably made it as a special teamer? Not sure though. I remember hearing his name a lot though on ST.

Come on guys, read the article, LOL He had an amazing 3 tackles and was a key blocker on special teams. Wow, there must have been some weak play at defense for all the freshman in the SEC this year.

Making an All-Freshman team has never really meant all that much. UT's had plenty of all conference freshmen that went on to disappoint.

I am glad I am not the only one confused here. Several things about this article confuse me. Can someone please shed a little light???

Vereen named to All-SEC freshman team : Football : GoVolsXtra.com

Tennessee linebacker Daryl Vereen was named to the All-SEC freshman team by the league’s coaches.

Vereen played in eight games for the Vols this season and recorded three tackles as he backed up seniors Nevin McKenzie and Adam Myers-White at the strong side. I didn't realize he even played LB, plus 3 tackles doesn't sound like much.

The Charlotte, N.C., native also worked as a key blocker on special teams for kick returner Dennis Rogan, who posted a school record 698 return yards. I think Rogan is a very good kick returner, but I had no idea he had that many yards this year. It sure didn't seem like it during this long depressing season. Didn't Jones return just about as many this year?

Georgia led the conference with six freshman team selections followed by Arkansas with five. How in the world can Georgia and Arkansas top Alabama when Bama supposedly started 15 freshman and played 22 this year? At least this is what was reported on the Sports Monster. That can not be right.
