The Indiana Pacers have acquired point guard Darren Collison and forward James Posey from the New Orleans Hornets in a four-way trade that also includes the New Jersey Nets and Houston Rockets.

The Pacers also announced Wednesday they have dealt Troy Murphy to the Nets, who sent guard Courtney Lee to Houston. To complete the trade, the Rockets shipped swingman Trevor Ariza to New Orleans.

Sweet deal. No idea what the Hornets are doing. Pacers and Nets come out on top. Houston breaks even. Hornets lose.

Collison averaged 18.8 points and 9.1 assists in 37 starts. He is deadly from downtown, shooting between 40-50% in college and 40% in the NBA.

Would think Collison could put up similar numbers starting for the Pacers. Paul is clearly the best player on the team but Collison might have been the second best.

Hibbert = Okafor
Hansbrough < West
Granger > Thornton
Dunleavy = Stojakovic

Still have Jeff Foster who is a good rebounder and Brandon Rush who is a good defender.

T.J. Ford, Dahntay Jones and A.J. Price who are solid back ups.

Paul George and Lance Stephenson who have yet to play.

Great trade for the Pacers. Besides the Hornets, what are the Nets doing? Troy Murphy for Courtney Lee is idiotic.

They apparently wanted him because of his ability to stretch the floor and hit the three. He has attempted 691 threes over the past two seasons and made 40.8% of them. He isn't a good defender but he averaged 14.6 points and 10.2 rebounds last year. On top of that, he has an expiring contract. Nets are probably hoping to resign him a lot cheaper after the season.

Also, Murphy can play both power forward and center. Johan Pretro isn't very good and Favors is only 19 isn't he? Murphy was a good addition for them in my opinion. Courtney Lee is good but Anthony Morrow had better numbers. They'll definitely need to find more depth at shooting guard because of the trade though.

I'm still trying to figure out what New Orleans was trying to do?

Guess they really liked Ariza and were really desperate to move Posey's contract. Doesn't seem like they got very much for a 23 year old point guard who put up sick numbers starting as a rookie.

They got out of Posey's contract and already had a PG so might as well get a solid SF. Peja and Mo Peterson have been horrible the last few years.

They're probably also hoping people will stop calling about Chris Paul now that they got rid of Collison lol.

They did get rid of the Posey contract.

Was it really worth trading a 23 year old(not quite 23) that averaged 18 and 9 as a rookie in 37 games, just to get rid of a bad contract?

I believe Ariza's contract is about the same as Posey's. Sure he is better and younger. He also shot less than 40% from the field last season. Collison shot 40% from downtown. It's not hard to average 15 if you take a million shots.

The biggest problem is that most people think Chris Paul is gone when his contract expires. Raptors and Cavs got picks that will be around 30 for Bosh and Lebron. I'd keep the rookie who actually proved something on the court in the NBA.

Paul's not necessarily gone, he makes more money if he signs with the Hornets after his contract's up. Now, that could be a sign and trade, but his original team can pay him more than any other.

You're right. He may not leave... they better put the right pieces around him though. I'm sure New York or New Jersey will be looking pretty good if they don't. Better endorsements and could play with Amare or Carmelo. Both?

It seems like Lebron was always going to leave when you look at it now. Carmelo and Paul don't seem much different. Carmelo played for Cuse and I think he'll find his way back there one way or another. Amare may be left high and dry while Anthony and Paul pack their bags for Brooklyn.

Brook Lopez
Derek Favors
Carmelo Anthony
Chris Paul

At least the Hornets would get Harris in that scenario I'm guessing. Better than 30th. Not sure it would be better than Collison though. Older, had a bunch of injuries and will require a bigger contract.

Anything changed with the Hornets ownership recently? They've been on standby for penny-pinching mode for some time, hence all the CP3 rumors.

Might have to subtract Lane Stephenson from the equation.

The p.o.s. threw his pregnant girlfriend down the stairs.

Starting to think I'm jinxed. Pacman Jones? Ron Artest? Tennessee brawl? And all of these teams have multiple guys getting in trouble. These are just some of the key events though. Really sucks.
