Now that you guys have seen him play in person and against a tough defense, do you think he's a good NFL prospect?

yes nfl caliber. A culpepper type player. Or Byron Leftwhich. Very good. I was impressed.

I thought he was one all along it was just a matter of him staying healthy...remember UAB would have beaten UGA 2 years ago had they had Hackney UAB lost 16-13

I voted maybe, and only because I think there are a lot of REALLY GOOD college QB's that do not make it in the pros. So, I would say "maybe".

That being said. He did very well, but like I predicted, he did not affect the outcome of the game. The only reason he had such a high amount of yards, was because of the defense that we played. He didn't impress me with ANY deep balls, and infact, the few he threw, he threw into coverage, and should have had them intercepted, but we do all know how our DB's don't play the ball.

Hackney is good and I do think he is the best college QB we will face in the regular season.

Either UAB is a lot better then everyone thinks or we are a lot worse, i am choosing to believe the former. The real tale will be told when UAB plays southern miss. Then we will know the answer.

I think he will play some ball in the league. He is a strong QB. UAB is going to win some games this year. I hope they go on and win their conference. Good game today.....

I wasn't a believer in Hackney before, I thought he was good... but not THAT GOOD. I'd compare him to Steve McNair. He is VERY elusive, it took most of the day for Mahelona to finally get the sack... that said, yes a large number of their yards came b/c we were playing the run... our coaches know that you can't win if you don't run well, and we only gave up 55 rushing yards.

Was UAB in general better than I gave them credit for? Recievers, yes... D, no... our O just executed THAT poorly near the 'zone.

No, I do not think Hackney is a NFL caliber QB...I didn't see anything that really impressed me about him yesterday...Our D played lousy and that made him look good...If it wasn't for the fact that he is overweight we would have sacked him several times...If our DB's and LB's could catch he would have thrown a couple more INTs...I think everyone is making to big of a deal about him.

Isn't that what made Culpepper so great though?

What made Culpepper great? Lousy Defenses, LBs and DBs that can't catch, and being overweight? That doesn't make to much sense

no being fat and fast and hard to bring down. Both from small schools and both had tremdous sucess in the college level. I have a feeling he will be the second qb taking if leak doesnt come out (with lineheart ahead of him).

I feel sorry for the team that waste a pick to take him that early...It may be true that he will be the 2nd QB taken because there are not a lot of good Sr. QBs out there this year...He probably will be the second QB taken unless some people come out early.

Hackney is Pro QB Material. Right now he's better than UT's QB's.
