Dark Souls 2: Scholar Of The First Sin (PS3, PS4, X360, X1, PC)

I encountered him on the raised platform with the little ladder that climbs up to it first. He slaughtered me there. The area I keep battling him repeatedly (to no avail) is at the top of a tower. I have to fight my way to him every time, and I go through mist. The area has 2 crossbows you can man, but they are useless.

Okay, that first area you encounter him he usually will wreck you. Unless you have an upgraded weapon and armor. That next area is when he's considered a boss, but if you beat him in that first area he won't be where the scorpion crossbows are. If you can summon someone to run decoy on him, those scorpions actually destroy him very quickly.

Dark Souls is different from Bloodborne in many ways.

1. You need to acquire human effigy to unhollow yourself to be able to summon help. You can be summoned as a hollow, however. And successfully helping someone against a boss will restore your humanity as well.

2. You need the white soapstone from Pate in order to be summoned. Or the small white soapstone from the forest of giants.

3. Invasions work through red and blue orbs and the red soapstone.

4. Weapons and armor are far more varied and you can (and must) upgrade your armor too.

5. There are tons of NPCs to summon if you're offline, but also tons of NPC invaders

There's more that I can't recall right now, but that's the big stuff

Yup, I have played DS2 for some time now (level 718 on my build). I bought Bloodborne but just did not care for it, its hard to explain, while the games are similar I just did not care for the gameplay on BB.

There is less weapon and armor variety in Bloodborne and I think that made it have a shorter shelf life, but I enjoyed the atmosphere and level design more than DS2. DS2 was too sunny and happy for what I expect from a Souls game. Still an awesome game, however.
