Just wanted to give a heads up on this game. Don't think I've seen any other threads about it.
This game is fun. You've got this boomerange thing from Krull (called a glaive) that is pretty fun. About 30 minutes into the game, you'll power up and be able to control it from the glaive's point of view...in slow motion...as you cut someone's head off while they screaming for their lives. No kidding, this is Dark Sector. You can cut off their arms, legs, head. Burn them, electricute them...all sorts of great stuff.
Gameplay is similar to Gears. Lots of big open areas with a couple waves to mow down as you move from cover to cover. The engines are fairly similar.
Graphics are pretty darn good for the most part. Again, it's nearly comparable to Gears because the engines are so similar.
Everyone plays games differently, but I found the difficulty fairly good until the last boss. There were a few parts I had to do three or four times. Save points are in right spots most of the time.
There's a story in the game. I have no clue what it was. You are infected. Other people are infected; there's a woman....I really have no idea. Didn't really matter to me because I found the gameplay so much fun.
I'd recommend this as a rental or future budget bin. It's fun for at least 5 or 6 hours in my opinion. I spent about 12-14 hours beating the thing on default difficulty. I'm not the quickest guy around.
Did not try the multi-player. Reviews I read weren't impressed with it. Some reviews didn't like the game at all which surprises me. I started losing interest around level 7 or 8 of 10. But, I hung with it to see what happens. They do a fairly good job introducing something new every couple levels right up to end.
