Was wondering what the overall opinion of VN was on if Da'Rick will stay for his senior year or leave early for the NFL. Obviously no one knows for sure because alot can happen between now and the 2013 NFL Draft.

I think Da'Rick leaves UT early for the NFL unless an unforseen major event (major injury, suspended/kicked off team) happens. I did a little research and looked up all of the SEC WRs drafted in the 1st Round of the NFL Draft the last 10 drafts (2011-2002). There have been 10 SEC WRs drafted in the 1st round the last 10 drafts. Out of those 10 WRs, 5 left to the NFL with college eligibility legt. 3 WRs left after their JR. year and 2 WRs left after their redshirt JR. year.

Da'Rick had better sophomore year statistics in all major categories than any of the 10 SEC WRs drafted in the 1st round. That doesn't necessarily mean he will leave early for the NFL Draft or be drafted 1st round when he does, but I think it definitely puts things in perspective.

Here is the chart:

Da'Rick's sophomore year vs. other 1st round SEC WRs sophomore year

Da'Rick Rogers: 67 catches, 1040 yards, 9 TDs.

A.J Green: 47 catches, 751 yards, 6 TDs.
Julio Jones: 43 catches, 596 yards, 4 TDs.
Percy Harvin: 59 catches, 858 yards, 4 TDs.
Dwayne Bowe: 39 catches, 597 yards, 5 TDs.
Robert Meachem: 29 catches, 383 yards, 2 TDs.
Craig Davis: 43 catches, 659 yards, 1 TD.
Troy Williamson: 31 catches, 428 yards, 2 TDs.
Matt Jones: Started season at QB for Arkansas.
Michael Clayton: 57 catches, 749 yards, 5 TDs.
Donte Stallworth: 35 catches, 519 yards, 2 TDs.

Da'Rick's statistics his sophomore year in the SEC were head and shoulders above the last 10 SEC WRs who were drafted in the 1st round. Doesn't necessarily mean anything though. Academic problems, off-field trouble, and injury could change much. Also, a great sophomore year doesn't translate into a great junior year and NFL status.

Anyway, most assume that Da'Rick is gone after next year. 2012 WR recruit Quinshad Davis has been quoted as saying UT coaches are recruiting WRs with the pitch of Da'Rick and Hunter being gone after next year. So if UT coaches think Da'Rick is gone I'd say there is a pretty good chance of it.

Sorry for the long post, but what does VN think? Does Da'Rick leave early for NFL? And if he does, is he a 1st round pick?

Would be really good for us if one of them went pro early. Best way to get back to the top in recruiting is to get back that reputation of producing 1st round money.

i think he will have a decent year but naw he stays. cathces go down with with jh back

I agree his stats will go down, but not too much.

Next season if Bray and Hunter stay healthy, Da'Rick will have a much better QB throwing him the ball & also will not be constantly double covered because Hunter would take so much attention from the defense.

Now that I think about it, Da'Rick's statistics next season could be basically identical to what they were last season.

I think Da'Rick catching passes for 12 games from Bray with Hunter, Rivera, and possibly Patterson taking pressure off of him being double teamed is way more effective than Da'Rick catching passes from Worley and Simms for over half the season with Arnett and Z.Rogers "taking pressure off" of Da'Rick.

We will see. I think reguardless of his junior year's statistics, if Da'Rick is 100% healthy and plays the whole season I think he is gone and will be a 1st round NFL Draft Pick.

I see Rogers numbers going way down with Justin Hunter back. Hunter is a much better receiver and talent than Rogers. Hunter will be the featured receiver and will have the big numbers this upcoming year. Rogers will be back for the senior year to get out of Hunter's shadow. Rogers stock will go down with Hunter back. If he wants to be a 2nd or 3rd round pick he leaves after his junior year. If he stays, I see him as a 1st round pick following his senior year. Rogers needs to mature before he moves on.

I agree with all of you. I think Da'Rick is gone after next season as well.

My question to you all is, would you agree with his decision? Why do you think he is 100% gone?

Because talented players generally strike while the iron is hot. Lets just call a spade a spade here... does Da'Rick seem like the type of student-athlete that values his education above all else?

You have your whole life to finish college. I would leave early too.

NFL bound, but no one needs to tell him that. Matter a fact tell him him he sucks or whatever it takes to keep a competitive fire lit under his ass

No doubt in the world that if everything is the same, Da'Rick is going to get paid. Hunter on the other hand, may stay.

that's a pretty incredible stat. His stats are above and beyond the others. Everybody plays cupcake games and pads their stats, so that's pretty telling.

Disagree. The latest Rogers goes in the NFL Draft next year would be the 2nd round. And that is if he has an absolute awful season and doesn't progress at all.

Hunter may be more talented and he may have better statistics next season, but I doubt it. You have to remember that Hunter will be coming off of a major ACL injury. I think he will be back, but not quite the pre-injury Justin Hunter. It might take him awhile to get back to that level.

Either way I think Rogers will be gone. I would be very surprised if he came back his senior year. Like other posters have stated, there is only a small window of time to leave. It's all about the money and it is very wise to leave when the money is right.

Normally I would say he will be gone, but with the return of Hunter and maybe a surprise year from a recruit will cut his touches considerably so maybe around for an extra year.
