college football is no longer what it was and in the current setup will soon cease to be anything of consequence. A school that has never considered football as more than a side note is likely the National Champion for this season. It’s a poetic ending to something that used to be so powerful. We’ve all cared at least enough to stick with our Vols this last season, but viewing this playoff, we can see that it’s not a very serious sport anymore already; in the aftermath of the open portal and pay for “play”. The NFL will suffer as well because the players coming in will be well established in chasing cash and lacking development.
I’m not even old. I’ve followed this sport for most of my life and it’s easy to see the massive impact from recent changes right before our eyes. Pruitt was stupid with how he handed out money, but bring us back to that time when poor kids from the hood played as 18 year olds with well executed expensive tattoo arm sleeves and diamonds in their ears.

Disagree on all fronts. This is the first time since the advent of the CFP that I feel like I were seeing theatrics usually reserved for the NCAA Basketball Tournament. You can’t beat this level of drama and the storylines.
AGREE !!!
What we've seen this weekend is EXACTLY what the playoff format is designed to provide...great, entertaining, football.

I actually think the NFL has benefitted. The talent through college football isn't being bogged down and hidden among FCS or G5 schools. The pipeline for talented players to go from bottom dwelling G5 schools to being a featured player at a P4 team is availble for those who prove themselves. The overall talent is rising to the top and as a result NFL teams have a larger pool of quality players to add to their rosters.

In fact getting paid and still demonstrating an ability to perform, even at the college level, is a mature trait that sifts out players who otherwise may losw focus the first time thet have a few thousand in their bank account.

That makes sense. Stir the pot and let the cream rise to the top.
