Dane Bradshaw Scholly?

He's just a hard working guy that does whatever he's asked and gives 100%.

Did you Volpeople hear about this? Was he really that good throughout his career?
It would take defining "good". He's the glue of that team this year. He's a good story, and Coach Pearl loves him enough to endow a scholarship in his name. For $50,000 you could endow a "Urban Meyer Scholarship" here at UT if you wanted.

The short answer is "no".

However, he always plays bigger than he is, does the "little things" all the time (i.e. out-positioning bigger players like Noah, and outhustling quicker players like Brewer), is a team leader, a good student, and generally flat-out gives his all every minute he is on the court.

...not to mention the fact that he played last year with a broken wrist for 5/6 of the season, and is playing on two bad shoulders this year.

So, is he deserving of a scholarship in his name? Absolutely.

Don't kid yourself, you don't have that much tradition... unless you have a scholarship named for Mr. Two Bits.

You DO understand that 12 years of national prominence doesn't warrant "tradition." Check out UF football before that... not so good... and I'm being NICE.

Hey, If you could ask any Gator fan in all of history, they would tell you that eventhough we went 0-10-1 in more years than anyone can count, most, if not all, of the fans stayed till the end. We may not have dominated, but Gators from all generations are loyal to and love the team. That's tradition enough for me.

PS-We were also first in the SEC in the early-mid 80s as well

That is correct. Again, this was a private endowment... it just happens that the private donor was coach Pearl and his wife. :)
I like the comment about how he had been poor for 37 years or something and rich for 2....lol. :)

1. I know, neither was I

2. ...in the last decade and a half, thanks to a Tennessean (i.e. Darth Visor)

3. I tend to agree with you. Anybody that can walk around Florida in August wearing a wool sweater has massive cojones. Hate your team, but respect Mr. Two Bits immensely.

Though I think his intention was as he said, I can see this move helping with recruiting.

Can you imagine how powerful this image is to a 18 year old.

CBP is a marketing genius! The Bradshaw Scholarship makes it official. What high school basketball player wouldn't want to play for a coach that plays the style ball Pearl plays, play for a guy who will paint his chest on national TV for love of the game and love of the program and to top it off... he is willing to put his own money back into the program he loves... Not many coaches are the caliber of this man! I think we really scored when we landed him... the one thing that AD Hamilton did good.
