I know these aren't really comparable, but Paul Adams in front of Wharton? Jashon Robertson in front of Wharton? Emmanuel Smith in front of Wharton? I don't think so....

That's a dozen players from the mid-state going to programs in major conferences. The talent level around Nashville has just exploded. I'm glad to see us doing well with those guys and hope we can get the cream of the crop every year.

I hope this continues to be a huge area of growth for Butch. Right now we're getting only two of the top twelve from Middle TN. That's a really low percentage. I understand we may not want every single one, but if TN turns out 36 Div. I prospects a year (12 x 3 sections of the state) I would think we would definitely go after and lock down more than 6. Really hate to see us lose a kid to ND.

Lovin' what Butch has done so far, just want to see it continue exponentially.

You do realize that kid who went to Notre Dame was a legacy for them. Not much CBJ could do about that.

Butch is gonna land 2 of the top 3 players in the state and has a shot at 3 out of 3. I'd say that's good for a coach who hasn't coached a down at Tennessee and is following the biggest train wreck ever here.

FWIW here is how I see the top 12 from middle Tennessee and please understand I'm not an expert nor even a good rookie! Please note that I only looked at the 12 players mentioned by The Tennessean newspaper.
1- Jalen Hurd
2- Josh Malone
3- Alex Bars
4- Derek Barnett
5- Rashaan Gaulden
6- Michael Sawyers
7- Vic Wharton III
8- Emmanuel Smith
9- Jashon Robertson
10- A.J. Long
11- Paul Adams
12- Thomas Richard

Definitely a better list than the original.

We have 3 so far with great chances at #2 and #3. Much better than what our previous coach did. That list is basically the top in the state with the exception of TKjr, Mosley, and maybe Wilson. I don't know that we would ever seriously recruit 36 players in our state. If CBJ wins, he will continue to get the top mid-state and in the entire state. It is a great start considering CBJ hasn't even coached a down yet.

Right now we've got Hurd, Gaulden, and Wharton committed. So that's actually 3 of 12 not 2. We are also considered the favorite for Barnett, and we are right there for Malone as well. So that's potentially 5 of the top 12. Outside of those 5 I think the staff would have only taken a commitment from Sawyers and possibly Robertson. I think Gaulden took Smith's spot, and we weren't perusing the rest. So we have actually done very well with the mid state recruits that we actually wanted. And again I think we will get Barnett and we have a lot better chance with Malone than a lot of people thought a few weeks ago.

Edit: they did miss on Bars as well but we never had a shot there.

In the next 10+ years, you will see the demographic changes in Middle Tennessee and North Georgia that will put Tennessee/Knoxville very close to so big time talent.
