Apologize if posted before, but driving in just now Dan Patrick said Del Rio is being offered the job at USC and that, as part of package of new coaching staff at Jags, Orgeron is defensive coordinator.

That is absurd.

so the new Jags coach won't be able to pick his coordinators?

So, after losing Del Rio to Southern Cal, the Jaguars are going to hire a defensive coordinator and then begin the search for a new head coach afterward?

I haven't listened to Danny this morning, but it'd sound more likely that Patrick is saying Del Rio is leaving Jacksonville for Southern Cal, and he wants Orgeron as his defensive coordinator in Los Angeles.

Isn't NFL DC material.

Exactly.

Hes never been a DC period afaik so how the heck would he be a NFL DC.

DL coach, maybe but he left the Saints staff for UT at that position, I dont see him going back to the NFL at all.

If he goes anywhere from here it will be as a DC or HC at another school.

I could see Del Rio bringing him to USC with him as his DC though.

Orgeron is certainly a popular guy these days. He's been linked with every coach and open position available anywhere. I heard he's running for president in three years.

This. I hope it ain't so, but I have a sneaking suspicion that it is....

No.... That's Fulmer running (using "Fulmer" and "running" in the same sentence just doesn't feel right....) for president... After exhausting every possible avenue towards getting back into coaching, Fulmer will go the Heath Shuler route and get into politics..... It's the one area he couldn't possibly be any worse than what we already have......

About the dumbest rumor ever posted on any message board. THink before you type if you are able to that is.

He is simply repeating something that was said on a mainstream radio station. This is far from the dumbest rumor posted on any message board (see John Gruden out at TB):)

If Del Rio get the USC job,Coach O could very well be gone.

I don't think Ed came here to kill a year. Could be wrong, but I don't think this was just a favor to Lane.

Not saying the guy wants to retire here, or even spend the next 5 years of his career in Knoxville...just don't see him leaving immediately unless he's presented with a no-brainer opportunity.

Coach O is loyal to Monte. He will be the DC at UT when Monte retires. O turned down more money at LSU and NO to come with Kiffin----he isn't going anywhere---

O will probably see a hefty raise, though.

At least Phil is a American. That in itself would be a upgrade. I bet he's a christian too, just a guess.
