Daevin Hobbs is out for spring with a foot injury

The point is this is a forum where we talk about footbal. And football players are part of that discussion. And they are not above criticism.

Again, the first thing NFL scouts will note in their evals is that he has an extensive injury history. Are they "hating" on the young man too? Or should they be afraid he's going to pick a fight with him for noting that?

I'm sorry that you are unable to grasp we are talking about football. He is "fragile" in relation to his ability to stay on the football field. Apparently you're too "fragile" to understand that.
You like to throw that word around. I'm certain Hobbs is well aware of what happens to his draft potential..... again something you likely know less than zero about but continue to spout off about.

By all means carry on about the "fragility" of a player whose injury you know nothing about, whose stress on his body you know nothing about, and whose attitude about his injury you know nothing about.

Absolutely, continue to talk about things you know nothing about.

OK thanks, as long as I have your blessing.

That you don't understand that "fragile" carries a negative connotation with it says everything about your lack of understanding of the context. Or you simply don't care as an entitled, low info fan

Certainly, fragile minded is also an injury. Were you dropped as a child?

Editing to give you a clue: I've zero info about your mental abilities except for the drivel I see here but calling you fragile is certainly something I can do from that limited knowledge.

After all, you comment on a public forum so you're fair game to trash whether I know anything about your situation or not, right?

Hiding behind the name of a fish and calling a 21 year old man fragile sums up how the ‘net turns cowardice into boldness.
As I mentioned, if you want to take personal shots at a player or coach about them being fragile or fat or sloppy as I’ve read from VNs finest, have the guts to reach out to them, put your name behind it and do it. Stop hiding your bad takes and insults behind anonymnity. It’s weak af.

Injury prone has the exact same negative connotation. A phrase you yourself just previously used in the thread.

Fragile, China doll, made of glass. All synonymous with injury prone.

I'm sorry if you comprehend that in some other way. But the rest of the sports world understands that these words/phrases all represent the same thing.

I can't believe we're arguing over fragile vs injury prone.
Maybe we should split the difference and just start using the term that Charles Barkley gave to Anthony Davis and use Street Clothes for players

The issue isn't semantics but folks feeling the need to be dismissive of players who are hurt rather than hopeful for their recovery.

Heupel could've told Hobbs to move on years ago if he thought he wasn't useful to UT. As it stands, he's rehabbing until the summer or so and probably will be a part of our renewed D.

As someone with first hand experience in the "sports world" as in having experience in NCAA competition, I can tell you that no, those terms aren't all used by people who have either coached or played at that level

Addendum: The term "soft" is even worse. These guys are using their bodies physically like you can't imagine. Please remember you couldn't do it before labeling someone as fragile and/soft

You're kidding!?!?!

You mean people who actually compete and train and coach have respect for the wear and tear on an athlete's body? Shocking. Totally unnecessary.

Thank you lol. VN “experts,” can be very annoying at times.
@Carp is representing the armchair experts. In his world and limited direct exposure, if any, he's not entirely wrong. It's not uncommon for avid, knowledgeable fans to express their opinions in inappropriately worded dialogue. He's right about the word "fragile" applied without nuance. That kind of sports' fan just doesn't have the experience to know it's inappropriate to characterize players as "fragile" or "soft". @Carp isn't a dumb guy.

This thread is hilarious. You could introduce any issue and I swear 50% of people would land on either side just to argue.

Heupel is known for load management especially in the spring. He’s not risking a guy who will start in the fall. He’s going to use the opportunity to build depth and get Hobbs to the starting line healthy. Move along.

It's good we loaded up on defensive tackles in the portal this year especially since we know our projected starting tackle has a history of not playing due to being injured all the time.

How many did we get? It was a thin, injured group last year. The numbers in the high school recruiting class was too low imo.

I have no problem calling someone out in person when they are being a jackass. Never have and never will. Have to do it at about every UT game unfortunately as people like you embarrass themselves and those around them.

Wait? You do this almost every game? Perhaps an honest self eval should should be on your list?

maybe not every game as early games aren’t as bad but yes I will gladly call out foul mouthed drunks cussing at coaches or players and find myself having to do it too often as they ruin the experience athletes I’ve brought to the game and other adults around them.
Nobody but you seems to have a problem with it going back a couple decades.
