Dear God, if we're going to go there, any of you who could not see Fulmer had lost touch with the game were freakin' blind. Yes, he was a great coach. No one can argue that. But that's like saying Joe Montana was a great football player. Just because he was a great player didn't mean he was going to be one forever. Something happenned in the 2001 SEC CG that changed Fulmer. He was never the same coach after. I don't know if it got into his head or if he just lost his passion, but he wasn't that same great coach anymore. Other people realize that too which is why he's never been a coach since. So get over the IG of Fulmer being fired.
Now we have the present. Butch was not left with a great team, but still, they should have done better this year. He underachieved. Pointblank, no excuses, he did not get the job done. He currently has a great class coming in, if they all stay committed. With that, and the returning players, progress absolutely must translate over to the football field next year. Another losing season and it's time for another coaching search. I don't care the rank of his recruiting class next year if he's not fielding a competitive team. Get it done on the field next year, or replace Hart and Jones.
