CSTV just reported that Cutcliffe would be serious candidate if Houston Nutt is fired at Arkansas.

It would break the heart of some of the goobs here, but I would love to see him either there or Kentucky.

For the sake of us not losing to him more frequently (he almost got us last year), I would rather he go to Arkansas.

Wonder if we could get Nutt to come be OC then. LOL

The drums are beating again in Arkansas for the arrival Butch Davis, who might be close to taking over the Razorbacks.

AD Frank Broyles gave current coach Houston Nutt a vote of confidence after the 70-17 loss to USC on Sept. 17. That followed an upset win by Vanderbilt. Another referendum on Nutt's job security is likely to come after this week's home game against Auburn.

Meanwhile, it has long been rumored that Davis, former coach of the Cleveland Browns and the University of Miami, wanted back in. Remember it was Alabama that wooed Davis for one of its openings.

Davis is a Springdale, Ark., native, adding to the speculation. During a Little Rock speaking engagement in Little Rock in September Davis was asked directly about a possible opening with the Razorbacks. He called the question unfair.

"Houston," he said, "is a friend."

I think these ARK people are "nuts" for wanting to fire their coach. He's done a really good job bringing their program back, IMO. In fact, I think he is an excellent game day coach and motivator.

They lost a LOT off of last year's team.

It's just hard to imagine Cut jumping back into the SEC, at the capacity of HC(so soon). I dont question his ability, only his health concerns, But who knows?

You would hate to be Nutt, thinking your job was on the line with Auburn coming to town and the names Davis, Cutcliffe looming around. :mf_surrender:

I'm not sure the stress factor would be that much greater as HC than it would be as Ocoordinator.

Either job is very stressful.

I'm not sure he will ever coach again.

I'd love to see him on the Hill as a QB coach.

Cutcliffe will NOT return to the University of Tennessee and if he does, it will be the end of the Vols as we know them.

"End" as in We will finally have an offense? or "End" as in we will have less than no offense?

I hope he can return if that's his desire.

I just know that I've seen serveral of my friends who have had this proceedure and they're never the same afterwards. It seems to do something to you emotionally.

I hope he can recover completely.

End as in, if we were to bring in Cutclife, Tennessee would basiclly have two head coaches. The players and team would see that and they would split. Half the team would fall behind Phil and the other half Coach Cut. It would be a disaster. Some people don't realize that, but Coach Cut is not the answer.
