Please someone tell me why Cutcliffe insists on throwing the ball more than running. When we were having success in the 1st quarter we ran more than passed and were running the ball down their throats. Then in the 2nd quarter Cutcliffe decides to go five wide and become the New England Patriots, and we are not the New England Patriots. In all of our best games, tennessee has ran more than passed but the coaches do not seem to get it. Now if we go to Lexington and pound it down their throats we will win but if we get in that five receiver wide set then we will get beat. Its seems like Cutcliffe tries to get to fancy in games, and that is evident in the Bama game. Its simple Cutcliffe if you run the ball this weekend 60-70% of the time we win, but if you throw that percentage of times we will get beat.

He's been coaching the same since he arrived at UT. Very good QB coach but...

many fans are asking that same question.. I wish I had an answer for you.. I think that will change in KY game ..well at least I hope it does..

I think in fairness to Cutt, Ainge wasn't exactly hitting the receivers in the numbers. It wasn't like he was calling pass plays and then we were getting blown up, it was just a case of poor execution. All the same it stands to reason, when your senior QB decides to scrub a game run the football. Hopefully Erik gets rid of the yips or whatever he's had the past couple games, and gets back to form for the rest of the year.

Well he DID have Peyton Manning for 4 years so it's hard not to. haha We also had great run games then as well and still ran the ball quite a bit.

Then there was 1998 when we were a run first team and he managed well. I'm not sure what his problem is now.

We've still only thrown the ball about 40 more times than we've ran it. It's just a matter of WHEN he decides to go to pass only, like a doh doh.

well we did more of that in the arky game. I think in the KY game it will be needed. we need to keep woodson off the field as much as possible.

Hopefully, Cutcliffe takes a coaching job somewhere else. I've had enough of his old style offense that doesn't work anymore.

I dont understand why we havent thrown the ball down field all year long. I can count on one hand, the times we have thrown the ball 25+ times down field. To me that is awful play calling, and being to conservative. It seems like Fulmer is rubbing off on Cutcliffe, and that is not a good thing.

It is not all play calling. The play calling is there for deep routes. It is a matter of execution. Ainge has chosen to take the shorter route. Either that is good defense, Ainge is too hesitant or a combination of the two.
