Currie 3 biggest takeaways

Apparently one of his core values was half assing a coach search.

Don't know that he half assed the coaching search. He had his candidates and our fan base didn't like it and went full redneck for the country to see. I really didn't want Schiano either, but would have taken Leach over Pruitt all day long. I know for a fact he wanted to hire Leach as well

I wish someone would "takeaway" Currie threads. I think we all understand what wend down and who benefited. Couldn't believe the other day. Someone actually called in to Ainge show crying about how Currie was wronged and so was Schiano. Lord help the guy who thinks that.

So protesting correctly (peacefully) and making our voices heard is full redneck?

That's not entirely accurate.

Haslem wanted and got Currie, Haslem wanted Schiano. Currie was hiring who he was told to by the guy responsible for making him the AD. There wasn't a freak out, catastrophic mess of a "search" until a well timed phone call was made by very influential person in Knoxville that got the ball rolling to stop Haslem. The fans reacted but Schiano was never going to land in Knoxville regardless.

I don't know that he failed miserably

Getting fired in the middle of a disastrous head football coaching search for an SEC school, and only lasting 8 or so months on the job......I’d say that’s virtually the textbook definition of failing miserably.

He literally couldn’t have done any worse.

Bingo... Vol Twitter took credit, but it's always about the $$$$. The "half ass" component of the search got exposed because he misread the politics.

That is a well documented fact, not some personal insight only you and a few other insiders were privy to.

Yep.
The media did a good job of making it about fans protesting in the streets and the social media uproar. "It made for better tv". Not that they knew what really happened but it was DOA before that ever took place.

I agree Beecher.
“We always have to stick with our core values and our integrity, and I never wavered from mine in that process,”
Looks like Currie's core values included being a brown nosing Yes man.

John Currie reveals his 3 biggest takeaways from time as Tennessee's AD

Outside of the obvious $2.5MM takeaway (smiling like he just cashed the latest UT installment)...ugh...UT, where you come to work and get paid, in full, to fail miserably.

1. A rabid fan-base won't accept mediocrity.
2. No one with even a hint of impropriety with a minor should ever be considered by the University of Tennessee.
3. If you're incompetent, at least have a good buy out like CBJ.
4. If you can't say anything good about the fanbase, don't tweet, text or otherwise communicate with anyone other than your other embedded personalities.
5. If Coach Fulmer wants your job, he'll get it!
6. It's not nice to fool Beverly Davenport!
7. Tennessee should have hired David Blackburn to begin with.
Bonus: If Pat Summit had been AD, CBJ and CHW would not have started the last season as Tennessee Coaches.

The browns didn't draft the best player in the draft in Bradley chubb. Currie was a Haslam puppet and nothing more. Can we please stop with the Currie garbage.

And there you have it, enough said. Just opening yourself of some stupid. You don’t know what Pruitt will do here, none of us do. He is doing somethings that the core of the fans see as positive and because the majority want to have hope, there is a small percentage of “fans” that will hold on to this misbelief, that things could have been better “only if we would have hired the right coach” Hang on to that bone all you want.
