Vanderbilt is now ranked 15th in the country per Rivals. Any reason to be concerned? I think ranked ahead of us by all services.....................

Yes!

You should head for the nearest bunker. Stock it with plenty of food and water.

Stay there for 10 years. When you come back up

Vandy will still be Vandy

in August? ....nope. If the past tells us anything, Dooley closes strong in recruiting. Usually our highest ranked prospects commit toward the end or after the football season.

say whatever, but they aren't the old Vandy anymore. We will still beat them 20 of 21 times and their D will get killed this year, but they have had more talent on the field than UT has in the past few years, and more talent consistently than Vandy has had, ever.

Actually not just Dooley. UT has traditionally been a slow starter and a very strong finisher.

Huh? I don't know about that. I mean our talent hasn't been great, but we've still beat them.

I have a feeling that their recruiting class will fall off at the end of the season for one of two reasons. Either they have a terrible season and recruits realize that Vandy is still Vandy and Franklin is blowing smoke, or Franklin goes 6-6 again and gets a better job offer somewhere else which will also make recruits jump ship. I think the first scenario likely happens.

I wouldn't say more "talent" but maybe more depth over the last couple of years. Remember when we were reduced to under 60 scholarship players two seasons ago? That being said...........we had some of the thinnest depth in the country...............

That pretty much IS the "old vandy".

They will drop off this year. They have 4 winnable games. The rest are gonna be a very long shot. Their class will take a hit if they win 4. Franklin is doing a good job of selling, but you can't say your program is on the rise after 1 decent season (by Vandy standards). That is what they are selling, along with the education.

Ummm not sure about that. So you're saying we are out coaching them??

How anyone can think they have a better class right now is beyond me. Since we are using rivals, we have 5 four stars vs 3 for them... The only reason they are ahead of us is because they have 20 and we have 17. It doesn't take rocket science to tell we have more higher rated commits and have the potential to spread the gap with our next 3 commitments. We could end up at 20 with 8 four stars but people would then say... but... but..

Some dropoff in recruiting should have been expect with the loss of so many assistants, hopeful a few Ws will help. But DD can't afford a mediocre class, period.

While what you said is arguably true, it doesn't paint the whole picture (either purposefully or negligently). Point number 1 is that the past two years have been the most depleted roster UT has fielded in modern history. Point number 2 is that even with this supposed "better" talent, Vandy still lost to UT in our darkest hour(s).

Right now, these "commitments" do not matter. All of these recruits can change their mind at any time. Many of them will. Recruiting in the off-season is largely fueled by hype, and Vandy is getting plenty of that. Good for them. If the season goes the way most believe it will, the number of "commitments" in August won't matter come February.

People forget that last year Franklin fielded one of the most experienced teams that Vandy has had recently. Much of that experience graduated. I firmly believe that it will reflect on the field.

Anyone worrying about Vandy has taken leave of their senses. However, it is relevant where other teams we play annually are ranked: #5 Bama, #6 UGA, #7 UF #14 SC #33 Mizzou (only 14 commits), not to mention #3 LSU, #8, Auburn, #9 Tam, #25 MSU and #27 Ole Miss...

Still a long way til NSD, though...

4 win season will fix Vandy's 'stellar' recruiting.

Besides if we are using Rivals, they have 3 4 stars and 17 3 stars. They just have more current recruits than we do. I'll take quality over quantity at this point in recruiting.
