Yey, SOMEONE finally got the math right! We have two spots remaining. Very good OCI!!! I have argued that point on here for the last two days and people keep shouting me down.

I think we get Quinshad, so it is really one spot remaining.

I'm not sure how the numbers will work out, but I thought we should start looking at it from the perspective of assuming everyone counts towards this class to narrow the focus.

Why would a transfer count against a 25 scholarship limit? Maybe I'm wrong but he should just count against the 85 limit since he was never "recruited"

I would update that list with the following categories:

100% Solid (No chance of a last minute switch)
Pretty Solid (may be taking a last minute token visit(s))
Waivering (Santos, McNeil, Bourque, etc.)

OCI-- While you're "here," would you help put to rest the unrest that is VN's concern over Santos?

In other words, will he stay committed? Personally, I believe he will. But, many others do not.

What say you? :hi:

In some cases transfers do not count. But in this case, Bullard does count against both the 25 and the 85. The NCAA has a little flowchart that you follow. I will try to find that...but I promise you...he is counting against the 25.

Bullard replaces Pat Martin who quit the team. We can count one back from last years signing class. So we have at least 3 left if we do not lose santos and a couple of others.

Jackson your one of the posters I keep up with,But my friend I think your wrong on this.Bullard only SHOULD count toward the 85 only.I really pray that I am right we could used the extra spot.

So of those listed and not enrolled who would you say will surprise everyone and sign elsewhere? (Santos?)

I've heard that the penalty for oversigning is that we lose 3 commitment spots for the next class for every spot over 25. Is this correct and since we will likely have a smaller class next year why don't we sign 26 this year and just sign the 22 next year?

I'm fairly certain that because Bullard got a waiver, he has to either be backcounted to last years class or be counted against this year's class. No spots were left unfilled, so he must count towards the 2012 class.

I promise you...we do not get to back count for Pat Martin or anyone else. We are at 25 and that is it.

Here is a little piece of that NCAA rule. For example, if we decided to put the little walkon tailback from Alcoa on scholly, he would not count against the 25. But since Bullard has been here less than two years, he does count against both. It's just the rule.

Is the player on Scholarship? YES ---> Have you given the player a scholarship before? NO ---> Has the player been in your school at least 2 years? NO ---> Player counts against the 25 initial grant in aids for the year as well the 85 total.

This makes me think you are wrong and that Bullard only counts toward the 85, because the 25 rule is an SEC rule not an NCAA rule.

Martin signed a LOI and enrolled...then left. I'm afraid that he can't count towards last year's class. I would be thrilled if it did work out like that, though.

This is probably more accurate than my explanation.

IF we only have two spots left.my picks would be Patterson(would be the cherry on a stellar group)and Sheldon(I think I saw he is a CSS guy, good enough for me)
I am a little surprised that we was not in on any five stars coming out of HS.

I know you have said this before and you my be right but I think the 25 rule is based on 25 LOI and bullard did not sign a LOI with Tenn. He signed his LOI with ND. I could very well be wrong on this but this is how I understood the SEC 25 rule.

I didn't think anyone knew what the penalty would be but if this is correct I would agree that we should sign 26 as we won't be able to sign 25 anyway next year and stay under the 85 overall limit (even with a little attrition)
