Curious? Has UT football ruined your enjoyment?

It hasn't ruined my enjoyment but I've had a similar thing happen where I don't worry about highlight shows. I'm definitely not as in tune with the top 25. Still love watching games though.
I can remember trying to rest during monsoon in a jungle country in 1971....worrying about being shot. 12 hour time difference and sometimes it would take weeks to find out Tenn scores. I do remember losing to Auburn but I found out that we had beat Fla...I said if I got home I would watch or listen to every game possible. A few losses doesn't stop me.
I can't stand NFL football.... Or the Nba

It has ruined my enjoyment. I used to watch the highlight shows like SEC now late Saturday night. I haven't watched it at all this year. Haven't watched the JP show either. Don't care who wins the SEC or the Nat Champ either.

Exactly been this way for a few years, before i couldn't wait for Saturday to get here now not so much. It's crazy to let something i have no control over affect me so much but it does.

I know a guy that was a NASCAR nut. The driver that was his favorite hardly ever won a race. He was so upset from all the losing that he adopted the idea that since his favorite driver drove a Ford, that if any race was won by a Ford made him happy regardless of who drove the car.

I don’t watch highlight shows or Gameday anymore. I still watch parts of other games, but I don’t watch football all day Saturday like I used to. I was spoiled by being at UT from 99-04.

I get some of the diehards who say you always support your team. Of course, but when they play an utterly embarrassing brand of football and act like a bunch of quitters I don’t see how you can be proud of that.

Your enjoyment of college football as a whole? Has the last couple years of UT being so dreadful taken the fun out of the sport for you? I used to enjoy watching other games all day Before and after a UT game (win or lose) but I’ve gotten to the point where I just no longer care to watch other games. It’s so bad when I watch other games all I can think is “must be nice to have an oline” thoughts like that. UGA and Bama are dominating and we’re at the bottom of not just the SEC but power 5 schools in general. Our suckage and the Bama dynasty has made the sport lose some luster to me. Anyone else feel this way?

My enjoyment hasn’t changed, but my expectations have changed.

It has some. So, I flip over to the NFL where most teams are at least decently coached only to find that even the NFL that I've always really liked ( great coaching, great talent on display ) has turned into something akin to backyard touch football, as far as physicality goes.

I probably will not continue to watch the NFL if a defensive player isn't allowed to tackle the QB. Maybe def coordinator and coaches will figure out a solid alternate method of tackling the QB that I'll be cool with, I doubt it though.

I’m a Washington State and Eastern Washington fan too. Fortunately Wazzu hired Leach and they’ve been fun to watch and I expect them to win now, which is a crazy feeling. Eastern has been really good too. So at least I have that while Tennessee is going through this.

Sad to say but, Yep ! Been a fan since about 1956 ! Sad day for me with UT football. I will watch and wish til I die. Cannot tackle, catch, block etc. However, we have got good kickers. After all, the kickers are our most needed players, because we sure aren't going to get many first downs.

I still enjoy watching other college football teams but I have kind of gone into hibernation regarding the Vols. When they start playing better, I'll wake up.

I bet that was awesome!

The way I was jumping up and down in the bleachers, you’d have tbought I was still a student! (And I have a nasty bruise on my calf from all the times I caught the bleachers, totally worth it though).

I don’t typically watch highlight/preview shows, but it’s not a performance thing, just hate the political lean by the stations. I watched anything and everything last Saturday night though

Curios? Has UT football ruined your enjoyment?

Yes, it has. Read "Doggynation" . . . their fans wanted to know if the players were afraid to get off the bus.

I remember what it used to be like. I never thought it would be this bad . . . ever. It's like watching a peewee team try to play high school football.

I've noticed that I get more enjoyment now watching certain teams get beat. As much as I dislike Franklin, today will be a great football Saturday if PSU beats OSU....

No because I can still watch other decent and great teams, and the Washington Huskies have returned as a team in the pretty good or great teams area. Browning is a fun talented great qb to watch along with the huskies.

When I'm watching other teams I'm not thinking wow I wish the Vols had this player or I wish the Vols were this great, etc. If I do then I mostly try to keep that from happening a high amount.

Huskies are my favorite kind of dog and dogs are my favorite animals, also it's always great to hear the loud horn when UW Huskies celebrate although amazed they don't use a Husky howl or Huskies howl that seem most logical, and some players can play like Huskies using the great speed.

Penn State has also returned to a great team that competes with Ohio State which is why since 2016 the Ohio State Penn State games have been unforgettable terrific dramatic and exciting , Michigan still needing to break through vs Ohio State, Clemson usually has a great season and makes 4 teams Playoffs, etc. Also the surprise teams with not surprise teams the Hurricanes returned to being a great team, and possibly this year the UK Wildcats have their best College Football season ever they are a exciting talented possibly great team.
The 4 teams playoffs system does make it exciting and terrific, and Clemson defeating the Crimson Tide in a Championship game rematch was 1 of the greatest College Football games ever along with 1 of the best national championship games

I would imagine Titan fans feel the same way about the NFL.

NFL games are 1 of kind so not for me mainly because I can still be watching good or great games, also brilliant breathtaking choke jobs the Bills, the Jets including that magical great 2015 season which ended losing to a mediocre Bills team, etc.

It's always entertaining when the Patriots are either defeated in a Super Bowl or in a Playoffs game including when the Ravens defeated the Patriots in the afc championship game before defeating the 49ers in a great exciting dramatic Super Bowl.

Football in general has lost it's intrigue. The lack of hitting in practice and reduced practice time, has really watered down the product. Then the safety rule changes have further exacerbated that. I haven't gotten used to watching this new product, it definitely isn't growing on me and I am definitely watching less football.

Yep. If I'm home with nothing to do I'll watch some football or the shows, but I can usually find something to do. Think I'll clean gutters today. Were I not a UT fan of 50 years I wouldn't watch football, or I assume that's the case since I couldn't care less about NFL. When watching UT is no fun, football is no fun. My son is a huge fan and is taking a visit to UT this fall (HS senior), and he's talking about going after football season...less people visiting, and going to a game doesn't sound like a good use of time.

What I miss is the magic of being a fan of a good team prior to the internet. Waking up on Monday and looking in the paper for the Top 25 used to be a weekly routine.

I really don't dislike Franklin at all mainly because Vanderbilt never steamrolled the Vols and usually won those games.

Nick Saban I hate as a head coach because the Crimson Tide has steamrolled the Vols, his asinine unintelligent statement and utterly delusional he'll write his own autobiography the whole truth maybe with some bullcrap of how he did't quit working for 3 football teams he transferred to a other job which is different than quitting and having no job except transferring to another a employer still is a kind of quitting except a big advantage because not unemployed, bringing up quitting criticizing a transfer player to the Vols when with bush league style quit the Michigan State Spartans, LSU Tigers, the Dolphins and either lied when he said he's not accepting the Crimson Tide job or changed his mind either way he's admitted he didn't handle the situation great at all and highly regrets that utter colossal mistake so that was respectable, and admirable of him.
Nick Saban criticizing another person about quitting like he has the high ground is as laughable and like any Swindler criticizing other persons for stealing, a Human trafficking syndicate leader criticizing other persons for using persons and using violence also coercion to obtain what they want, or Rodney Harrison criticizing Jeff Fisher is a awful guy as in the NFL because his claim he uses dirty tactics to injure players which is laughable for a notorious awful remorseless dirty player and remorseless as evidence for how long he remained a dirty player.
Rodney Harrison is damn lucky he wasn't choke slammed, speared, and clotheslined since he seriously played the NFL like it's NFL Blitz.

Plus unlike Pete Carrol if his team is steamrolled he doesn't use some awful bush league complaint the score is getting run up and then having no issues when his team is steamrolling a team and running up the score.
That's wanting to have a cake and eat it to, and isn't a situation where you can have your cake and eat it to. I've watched Bar Rescue and Jon Taffer did say to a Bar Owner he could have a cake and eat it to.
