The question Rex was asking was not which team has been most successful in the past 5 years . . . It was "Would you switch players and coaches with UGA right NOW?" I'm just pointing out that the answer to that is not as clear cut as he seems to think.

I was talking (typing) out of the side of my mouth so I can take my medicine like a man, but choosing our staff would simply be the lesser of two evils. By the way the big rumor is that Miles is headed to Michigan.

Well...don't feel too bad. At this point we don't have any evidence that he doesn't still own Fulmer in Neyland:cray:

Les Miles is amazing. He is pretty much universally thought of as a meathead, but he keeps climbing the ladder.

Why is Miles the leading candidate?

Does he have ties to Michigan?

You would think that Michigan wouldn't be in a hurry to replace one under-achiever with another.

I liked a lot of the things we did last night.

1. Ainge is great...he's really evolved as a quarterback...our season rides on his shoulders.
2. The running game looks strong with Foster, Creer, and Coker...the offensive line is creating gaps, and the backs are hitting them...we'll see if the Florida front seven can change that on Saturday.
3. Austin Rogers gets open and makes big catches...he's better than I thought he'd be.
4. Nice to see Williams, Berry, Ayers, McCoy, and McKenzie making big plays on defense...maybe it was just the USM offense being outmanned, but I thought our D got better as the game went on...they flew to the ball, wrapped up better, and got a few turnovers...much better effort last night.
5. The place kicking and punting was improved last night...We still need Colquitt, but Lincoln and Cunningham showed potential.

I'm still concerned with:

1. We are still allowing teams to get outstanding field position against us on kickoffs. If Florida is beginning drives at the 40, they'll finish most of those drives with 7 points.
2. Kenny, Brent, Gerald??? When are these big playmakers going to make a big play?
3. The offensive playcalling gets a little cutesy at times. The Crompton run out of the shotgun was ridiculous. It was predictable and ineffective. We got away from pounding the ball with our best runners, and that's difficult to understand. We had similar questionable playcalling inside the Cal 5 last week, and we walked away without points on both occasions. We can't have missed opportunities like those and leave Gainesville with a win.

I agree with just about all of that. Fulmer said on the show that Oneal was super fast and they were gonna find ways to get him the ball. I also saw somwhere Ainge said that during halftime Coach Cut said they were done being cute on 3rd downs. That takes care of problem 2 and 3 so if they can just fix 1 they'll be in great shape come Saturday!

It was a decent, albeit uneven, performance against a Conference USA team. While the O continued to impress me, some of the playcalling still makes me wonder (Crompton doing his worst Tebow impersonation). The D will get shredded by UF. I hope we can match them score for score and that they make a mistake that will cost them the game. I'm encouraged and optimistic, but also a realist. I cant imagine where we would be without Ainge. Does anyone here really think we've found our deep threat? BY the way, Creer is the real deal Holyfield, I was worried that he looked kind of small, but there was one play that he just took the handoff and banged up in there like he was Jamal Lewis, needs to learn ball security though is he's going to get serious carries this year. Yes, we took a step forward, are we ready for the Gators? Time will tell.

Good assessment, Rex. I think most agree that the UT -UF throw down in the Swamp is going to be a score fest this year. All you gamblers pay attention to the Over-Under on this one!

Ainge is the most polished QB the Vols have had since Manning. Cut has really outdone himself with this prodigy. We are going to live and die by number 10 this year- and I can proudly say that this isn't a bad thing.

Foster continues to impress me. He's running like a man possessed and has a stiff arm that can potentially stifle even the most rabid linebacker who isn't ready for it. Here's to getting getting back to that Big Orange flavored smash mouth style of football we've missed so sorely the past couple of years.

Someone needs to help Chavis get in touch with David Copperfield; he'll need to learn how to pull a rabbit from a hat with the defense we've produced this year. :ermm:

to prove that I can admit when Im wrong...

Spurrier has a few jabs left for BulldogsBy CARTER STRICKLAND
The Atlanta Journal-ConstitutionPublished on: 09/10/07
Athens— The morning after a loss is never pretty.
Fans are quick to turn. Assessments, even the accurate ones, can be cruel. And the piling on usually begins.
startlingly honest barb the day after his South Carolina team beat Georgia, 16-12.
"It wasn't like they were some big, powerful team," Spurrier said on his television show Sunday. "They've actually lost five in a row to Eastern Division opponents. Kentucky and Vandy beat 'em last year."
That's right five in a row — Tennessee, Florida, Kentucky, Vanderbilt and South Carolina have now run through Georgia in the past five SEC East games. And Georgia, which has slipped to No. 23 in the Associated Press poll, still has four of those teams this season. Three of the four — Tennessee, Vanderbilt and Florida — are on the road.
But while Spurrier handed out an indictment on Georgia's ability and South Carolina leveled a crushing blow to the Bulldogs' hopes of grabbing the SEC East title, Georgia coach Mark Richt has decided to turn a deaf ear.
"I am not going to talk much about the conference race this week especially because we are not playing a conference game," Richt said. "We will work more on just getting better. I won't talk much about the conference right now."
Really there is not much to talk about. To get to the Georgia Dome, Georgia has to run the SEC East table and hope somebody beats South Carolina. South Carolina under Spurrier has proven it can beat Tennessee and Florida in the same season. Georgia, under Richt, has never done that.
In fact, Georgia has never run the table in the SEC East.
Then there is that whole Florida thing. Just in case you forgot, Georgia is 2-14 in the last 16 games against Florida.
That's all back burner stuff this week, Richt said. But the streak of conference losses is burning a hole in the temporal lobe of fans and they have got to vent. Some do so in apocalyptic message board posts.
"What a ... joke. Another year another let down. I can't take it anymore. Alabama, LSU, Tennessee, Florida, heck even Tech, all have championships since our glory year of 1980. How much longer must we wait? So ... sick of this crap!!" wrote one AJC blog responder two hours after the game ended Saturday.
Williams commits
Saturday's score didn't matter to Nick Williams.
"Somebody has got to lose,'" said the Bainbridge High School quarterback. "Even the best teams lose sometimes."
But what Georgia won was Williams. The 6-foot-2, 195-pound Williams walked out of Sanford Stadium Saturday knowing he wanted to commit to Georgia. Sunday he did just that.
"I wanted to sleep on it and then I woke up and walked in where my dad was watching TV and told him, 'Dad, Georgia is where I want to go,'" Williams said. "He just went crazy."
Williams, who also plays safety, was also being recruited by South Carolina and Alabama. He is the 17th commitment for Georgia. (The Bulldogs also have two soft commitments.) Williams, who could play several positions in college, also already has a qualifying score on his SAT.

I think he is an inspiration to meatheads everywhere. At least he got a hat that fit this year.

and that Madonnaesque head set he tried to sport a couple of years ago......:eek:lol:

 I was reminded of that last night by the headset at the other end of the spectrum that Wade Phillips was wearing last night. Quite a contrast of style. Phillips was practically wearing a helmet.

that's because he has such a huge head. everytime i see Wade Phillips on the sideline of an NFL game....i picture him with a cartoon caption above his head with the word "duh?" in it.

not real sure that displaying an intimate knowledge of madonna could be considered "good", esp on a football board. Im just waiting for you to reference a Brittney Spears song next.
