It was a decent, albeit uneven, performance against a Conference USA team. While the O continued to impress me, some of the playcalling still makes me wonder (Crompton doing his worst Tebow impersonation). The D will get shredded by UF. I hope we can match them score for score and that they make a mistake that will cost them the game. I'm encouraged and optimistic, but also a realist. I cant imagine where we would be without Ainge. Does anyone here really think we've found our deep threat? BY the way, Creer is the real deal Holyfield, I was worried that he looked kind of small, but there was one play that he just took the handoff and banged up in there like he was Jamal Lewis, needs to learn ball security though is he's going to get serious carries this year. Yes, we took a step forward, are we ready for the Gators? Time will tell.

Don't get too excited now Rex.

It's going to be Spurrier vs Fulmer for the East, just like the old days after Saturday.

I am thinking we should just go ahead an give UF the win since we stink soooo bad. Whatever, I am looking forward to a good game this weekend and a win. UF has showed me nothing up to this point other than they can beat up on a bunch of kids that are piss poor high school players. UT has made improvements and looked better this week against another conf. champion contender.

I liked a lot of the things we did last night.

1. Ainge is great...he's really evolved as a quarterback...our season rides on his shoulders.
2. The running game looks strong with Foster, Creer, and Coker...the offensive line is creating gaps, and the backs are hitting them...we'll see if the Florida front seven can change that on Saturday.
3. Austin Rogers gets open and makes big catches...he's better than I thought he'd be.
4. Nice to see Williams, Berry, Ayers, McCoy, and McKenzie making big plays on defense...maybe it was just the USM offense being outmanned, but I thought our D got better as the game went on...they flew to the ball, wrapped up better, and got a few turnovers...much better effort last night.
5. The place kicking and punting was improved last night...We still need Colquitt, but Lincoln and Cunningham showed potential.

I'm still concerned with:

1. We are still allowing teams to get outstanding field position against us on kickoffs. If Florida is beginning drives at the 40, they'll finish most of those drives with 7 points.
2. Kenny, Brent, Gerald??? When are these big playmakers going to make a big play?
3. The offensive playcalling gets a little cutesy at times. The Crompton run out of the shotgun was ridiculous. It was predictable and ineffective. We got away from pounding the ball with our best runners, and that's difficult to understand. We had similar questionable playcalling inside the Cal 5 last week, and we walked away without points on both occasions. We can't have missed opportunities like those and leave Gainesville with a win.

I think that's a fair assessment. But at the same time, Southern Miss was definitely no cupcake either.

I think we need to force at least two turnovers in order to stay in this game in Gainesville. Need to keep Momentum on our side and their offense off the field.

I dunno what happened on that Crompton play, but it looked like he was running away from his blockers...not smart.

I've been talking up Creer for a while now to people. He has the potential to be an 1,000, if not 1,500 yard back during his time here.

Thankfully the game will be played on the field. We have enough talent to beat anyone on a given day.

I think the offense is ready.

Defense....not so much.

I'm glad we came out with the W, but the Southern Miss game gives me little confidence about this weekend at Florida.

Rex, your statement about Ainge "I can't imagine where we would be without Ainge"....I don't understand...We do have him and he is playing excellent ball. Don't try to be too much of a realist.

I would describe our offense as "efficient", but not great.

I would describe our defense as average.

Right now, we are what we are (which is what we have been for a while now): A fringe top 25 team with no margin for error against other fringe top 25 teams.

That usually amounts to something between 8-4 and 9-3 in the SEC.

(Crompton doing his worst Tebow impersonation).

everyone in Neyland knew he was going to run the ball too.

We are ready for Florida. Are our coaches.....if ti comes down to 7 points or less, most likely will coaches win it or lose it for us.

That is a horrible stat come to think of it. Richt 0-5 in his last 5 SEC East games.

:eek:lol:Exactly what I was about to post after you reminded me about the Kentucky and Vandy losses. What a stat that is!? I'll probably only quote that one about 20 times tomorrow.

Yea, he kind of lives in that elite realm right now in terms of SEC coaches. He may get evicted from that community before too long.

Here's another fun stat. Georgia's last victory against an SEC East opponent was against South Carolina 9/9/2006 and their next SEC East opponent is us on 10/6. They are going to go over a full calendar year without winning a game against the SEC East. I'm really wondering how often that happens unless you are Vanderbilt?

I'm sure he is. Richt's 0-3 record in the last 3 games against Fulmer/Meyer/Spurrier does a lot for his argument.

Not so fast,my friend from the Peach State. In this millenium (2001-2006) how many SEC championships has Mr. Ricth won? How many have F/M/S won? The last three games at Neyland UGA(Richt) vs UT(Fulmer) who prevailed?

I rest my case.:whistling:

The question Rex was asking was not which team has been most successful in the past 5 years . . . It was "Would you switch players and coaches with UGA right NOW?" I'm just pointing out that the answer to that is not as clear cut as he seems to think.

I would take Spurrier right NOW. Two years ago I would have taken Richt. Who knows, at the end of the year Les Miles might be be tops.:ermm:
