He may not lack "heart" on a personal level, although I think he lacks the ability to fire his team up. Im sure he is disappointed, Im sure the team is disappointed -especially the seniors who started their careers as a shoe-in to the tourney-, as fans we are all disappointed, clearly. He has been criticized all year long for waiting until it was too late to voice his opinion, and the negative effects it has had on the team (ie not calling out the refs about Jarnells physical play in games, rather waiting to petition the NCAA afterwards; playing ineffective lineups; negative body language of our most pivotal players when the game is still winnable, etc). Those are not good qualities for a winning coach to have, hence probably a really good reason as to why he has never been the HC of a tournament team. His attitude projects onto his players and it shows. We all saw it in the BAMA SECT game when every player already felt like we were in the tourney, just like Cuonzo said beforehand, and they became complacent. BP, for all of his faults, would fight for his players on the court and often get ejected from the game doing so. In essence, making a statement to everyone watching that he would do anything for his team. You would be surprised how far that goes with the players, the officiating, and how we are perceived by every conference foe. I know Bruce is gone, I know hes not coming back; I just use him as a comparison because he was our best coach to date, and he was a winner.
