Based on the tweets from Rucker during his press conference, I'm not expecting much of a run from this team in the NIT. He sounds extremely unmotivated to be there but who can blame him?

Seems to make some valid points about the SEC only getting 3 teams into the tourney and feels slighted and confused about what it took to get in. Sounds more like a defense of the SEC than his team specifically.

The only reason I could see why he would be disgusted is that he still doesn't understand the system.
His history is losing on the road.
If he doesn't see the NIT as a chance to turn that around, I don't hold out much hope for next year.

Sucks we did not get in, but they can't blame the committee. Win more and this would not be a problem. Not to mention how lackluster we play in the post-season.

Thing is, MTSU was rewarded for playing a crap schedule and getting wins. If UT plays a crap schedule and wins then we would be in the same boat as we are now. Based on numbers, we should have been in over a couple teams that made it.

Mizzou sucked on the road too.

Not enough fire IMO.

I don't think he really cared if we made it.

Missouri is a mystery, but being a ranked team most of the season probably saved them.

The last game was just another game to TN. Other teams treated their last game like an elimination game and were rewarded.

Too bad he wasn't disgusted enough to make coaching changes during the Alabama disaster.

But good that he's whining now, I guess.

Because this system isn't consistent. 4 years ago this same record would've gotten this TN team into the tourney. They need to have some actual, real and definable traits they pick from for who makes it and doesn't. Not, "Oh this is what they consider," but

"Win conference tourney? In. Ranked top 25 in the polls at the end of the season? in. RPI/SOS/BPI/etc in the top 50 and you're not already in? In."

It's too subjective at this point when it needs to be completely objective. My biggest fear for a football playoff is that they will do something like this and screw over a better team that should be in for someone else based on subjective reasons.

he should be disgusted with himself...BP would have beat memphis an Georgetown and we would be dancing. CM didn't coach them up in these games and these are the games that decided our fate. :loco:

Oh, and about his confusion on what the committee wants:

Protip: Beat someone that matters on the road. At least once. It really helps.

Good grief, this team has no one but themselves to blame. Quit complaining.

that's like playing not to lose a fight, going the distance, and leaving it in the crooked referees hands.
Should've coached better and played with more intensity and assertiveness.

If we played the same schedule as MTSU, I doubt we would have won as many road games as they did. With our year-end performance, sure. But, we didn't perform like that all season.

I would like Tennessee to conduct a theory to disapprove the selection committee. Since our schedule is concrete for next year and possibly teams are in place for 2014-2015. Start in 2015-2016 schedule, I want UT to take every opponent like a Georgetown, Oklahoma State, Wichita St. and even a Memphis and replace them with UTC, Bowling Green, Austin P and Walters Community College and when we go 24-8 and instead of 20-12 if we don't get in then we know it is OOC schedule and the next year if we schedule Louisville, Syracuse, Duke and Memphis and maybe sprinkle in a Kansas and Kansas State with a few quality wins out of that group and we don't get it in then it is not OOC schedule.

When is the NCAA going to come out and say because we have a chairmen every year that is from a different school or conference the criteria is different every year and no one has any idea what is takes from year to year.

Sure we got screwed with St Mary's and MTSU getting in. However, if we had taken care of business in the AL game we wouldn't be having this discussion. They played without a sense of urgency and CCM should never have made the statement after the Mizzou win that we had done enough to get in the tourney.

Lose to Florida INTL,Arkansas St,Central Connecticut State,Utah,Nevada,Georgia Tech and Northern IA you get in the tourney. If you do not follow hoops or do not understand the game quit embarrassing yourself with these post.

If we play AT at least two of UTC, Bowling Green, Austin P and Walters Community College, and still beat them all, your plan might work.

They took care of business with 19 regular season wins. This is not about some bull----- post conference tourney win or loss.

Our computer numbers were below the teams that got in. Had we beaten Bama on Friday, we would have probably been close enough to Boise in the computers that we would have gotten the bid and left Boise's fans complaining about BCS-school bias.

MTSU's schedule was trash, so I'm willing to bet it would be similar
