If a current school of thought is brought up in social studies as a current thought rather than taught as factual then it's fine as a discussion topic. It shouldn't be presented as "accepted" or glorified in any way. Then students can address it in discussion or debate. The point is that it needs to be introduced at a grade level when the kids have enough experience to fully understand the intent and have enough life experience to understand balance. Failure to do that makes it simple indoctrination of a political stance.
CRT is a subjective critique of historical facts. Nobody teaching it responsibly is presenting the ideas as factual. Banning any discussion of it at all K-12 across an entire state is the problem. A school district saying "we're not going to cover this in our curriculum until high school, but it's not guaranteed to be covered" is a completely acceptable policy. IMO, saying it can't be discussed at all is unacceptable in a society that professes to value the exchange of ideas.

FTR, I do not think creationism should be banned either, even though I believe it has less academic merit than CRT. I would like for classrooms to discuss that merit, despite the fact that I know some creationists could bias some kids.

1. There's a lot of topics that should be avoided, especially in younger groups. As students progress, I'm okay with that list of things they're exposed to also progressing. The issue isn't the discussion. Social Theories are often presented in the same light as Biological theories. Kids are taught CRT as if it an absolute fact. Where in that teacher resource did you see I provided to begin the conversation did you see anything about this is "a theory" or "what some people believe"? There were no qualifiers. It was just stated as a fact. Individuals=white supremacy. Surely we both see that as a major problem. Do you really think the average or a majority of 6th graders see those things and think "this is just one social science theory and that theory is not equivalent to a scientific theory in terms of its veracity"? This is where the issue arises.

Do you disagree that this is a problem or do you simply believe even if it is a problem, it should be allowed?

2. The term ban doesn't change anything from my perspective. Not all things can/should be taught. If you ban things that should not be taught, I don't see that as suppression. If you don't allow NAMBLA day at your local pre-school, I wouldn't argue you've suppressed NAMBLA. Some ideas are inappropriate for public schools and all content should be age appropriate.

Doctors Warn New Medical School Guidance Would Lead to Unqualified Physicians and Unscientific Medicine

Accreditation guidelines call meritocracy 'malignant,' suggest genetic screening is racist

The two accrediting bodies for American medical schools now say that meritocracy is "malignant" and that race has "no genetic or scientific basis," positions that many doctors worry will lower standards of care and endanger lives by discouraging vital genetic testing.

The Liaison Committee on Medical Education, which accredits all medical schools in North America, is cosponsored by the American Medical Association (AMA) and the American Association for Medical Colleges (AAMC)—the same groups that on Oct. 30 released a controversial guide to "advancing health equity" through "language, narrative, and concepts."

Those concepts include the ideas that "individualism and meritocracy" are "malignant narratives" that "create harm," that using race as a proxy for genetics "leads directly to racial health inequities," and that medical vulnerability is the "result of socially created processes" rather than biology.

Integrating these ideas into medicine, five professors and practicing doctors told the Washington Free Beacon, would be a catastrophe, resulting in underqualified doctors, missed diagnoses, and unscientific medical school curricula.

Republicans slam woke, new Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal who says site is not 'bound by the First Amendment' and once asked 'why should I distinguish between white people and racists?'

Republicans have slammed the new Twitter CEO who boasted last year that the company is 'not bound by the First Amendment' while a 2010 tweet has today resurfaced in which he appears to call all white people racist.

Parag Agrawal, 45, was named the new CEO of the social media giant early on Monday, after serving as the company's chief technology officer since 2017.

'If they are not gonna make a distinction between Muslims and extremists, then why should I distinguish between white people and racists?' Agrawal, who has an estimated net worth of $1.52million, tweeted in October 26, 2010.

The most amazing thing about this is that what they say the (conspiracy) theory claims, is 100% what the cultural Marxist claim. It’s not hidden nor buried. They openly stated things like that it was Christianity, the wealth of the working class, and cultural hegemony that stood in the way of their Marxist vision.

Poll: Democrats Increasingly Favor Socialism over Capitalism

Democrats are increasingly viewing socialism more positively than capitalism, according to a Gallup poll released on Monday.

While Republicans’ view of socialism has only grown more wary over the years, 65 percent of Democrats have a positive view of socialism “moving from 53 percent in 2010 and 2012 to over 60 percent in the past two surveys,” the report states. Only 14 percent of Republicans have a more positive view of socialism, though the majority prefer capitalism.

According to the poll report, 72 percent of Republicans and 52 percent of Democrats have a “positive image of capitalism.” Americans have overall “remained relatively steady” over the years in holding negative views of socialism, coming in a 38 percent positive and 59 percent negative.

We literally have conservatives on a full-scale battle to remove all mention of critical race theory from public schools, but OK.
And CRT is what...?
That's right! - Marxist theory designed to destroy Western society and the U.S. in particular, but you think it's perfectly rational K-12 fodder.

CRT has no place in the K-12 education. Nor does a curriculum that falsely casts our history in a light that hides our blemishes.

There's a very careful balance to be had. How we have overcome our flaws and difficulties is part of what makes America great.

I've said the same thing on this forum but that's not what Huff is arguing. He's either ignorant that CRT, 1619 Project and such are literally "die America" Marxism, or he's libertarian-suicidal enough to think nothing of it in K-12 while brandishing free speech as a defense.

You can't be this ignorant; ffs.
When people try to claim you don’t know what critical race theory is my favorite part of Bell’s nonsense to always bring up is interest convergence.

It literally creates a catch-22 where anything a white person does is considered an act of white supremacy.

If you support policies that help white people, that’s wrong.

If you support neutral polices that’s wrong because you should have been using your time to life up black people.

But the best part of interest convergence is that Bell claims black people are only helped by whites who are seeking to improve their own standing. So even if you help black people, CRT claims that is only done as a way to improve your own lot.

OK, so when did I say or imply it's OK for teachers to openly lie to students? You think everything about CRT is a lie? Is that your thesis?

Why do you think new rules will be enforced if the problem isn't the rules, it's enforcement? Doesn't make much sense.

Kids are being taught lies but I'm not going to advocate banning the whole topic of the Civil War just because some/many teachers aren't getting it right.

Well, yes, that's it exactly.

It's not "some/many teachers aren't getting it right"; it's the inherent design of CRT to get it wrong and to portray Western society as an oppressor/oppressed hierarchy based upon race, gender, and sexual preference. That market systems, math, biology and attendant pronouns, that only women bleed and become pregnant are white supremacy, objectivity is white privilege, and that pigmented people are not responsible for their own theft and violence or state of their community.

It is literally being advocated in school and culturally-aligned media, not that some people have these "subjective" views - as you stated in another post - but that 1619 Project and CRT are valid, truthful expositions of American society, and in fact that America is a white supremacist society enshrined by a white supremacist constitution, it is genetic, and can only be undone by undoing whiteness and this society.

Not excluded. Banned. Say it with me real loud for the people in the back because they are not getting it. Banned.

You're a waste of time.
Okay; "BANNED" and rightly so. Are you arguing we so thoroughly and efficiently educate K-12 that we've a vacuum of unused instruction time in which to teach Marxist theory? And not simply teach is as Marxist theory, but as a racialized, genderized, sexualized truth regarding American and Western society?

"BANNED. BANNED!"

Happy?

Woke San Francisco restaurant that brands itself a 'safe space for queer and BIPOC individuals' throws armed cops out for making staff feel 'uncomfortable'

A San Francisco restaurant that brands itself a 'safe space for queer and BIPOC individuals' was forced to issue a groveling apology after kicking out three armed cops.

Rachel Sillcocks and Christina Compton, the owners of Hilda and Jesse Restaurant apologized in a social media post published Sunday following an outcry and calls to boycott the eatery because the officers were asked to leave shortly after they sat down Friday.

The pair said they 'politely' ejected the unidentified officers because their presence made staff in the crime-ravaged city 'uncomfortable.'

UK Bureaucrats Ban Word ‘Christmas’ for Fear It Will Offend Minorities

UK Civil servants have axed the word ‘Christmas’ from a proposed government campaign, for fear the term will offend minorities.

British civil servants have apparently embraced their inner Scrooge, vetoing the use of the word ‘Christmas’ from being used in a coronavirus testing drive aimed at students, arguing that the use of the term runs the risk of offending minorities within the country.

Common sense fail! Woke California school boards BAN teachers from giving D and F grades and will instead offer students chance to try work again or mark it as 'incomplete' in a bid to help Black, Latino and low-income students during the pandemic

High school students studying in some of California's largest school districts will no longer be given a D or F grade for poor work, and will instead be allowed to take the tests or complete the work again.

The new system has been introduced due to the pandemic, with supporters arguing that it reduces the stress levels for already-traumatized and unsettled students.

Proponents say it will particularly help black, Latino and lower-income students, who have statistically been disproportionately affected by pandemic upheaval to school routines.

Critics say that it dumbs down education, leaving students unequipped to cope with the harsh realities of the modern world.

Democrats Push ‘Racial Equity Audits’ To Cement Control of Tech Companies

Audits call for abolition of standards of 'merit'

Democrats want to subject tech companies to mandatory "racial equity audits" conducted by their political allies, a move which could cement the party's control of Silicon Valley.

A small group of organizations with close ties to Democratic politicians and progressive donors conducts the majority of these audits, which advocates say are needed to promote racial justice. But in practice, equity auditors often push companies to hire more left-wing activists and former Democratic party officials, often from the auditing organizations themselves. The audits also call for the abolition of standards of "merit" and the ability for a special executive to veto any company project.

Two major real estate search engines Nix Crime Data in Racial Equity Push

Realtor.com has removed crime data from its website, and Redfin has decided not to add it out of concerns that it could perpetuate racial inequity.

David Doctorow, the CEO of Realtor.com, said in a company update this week that the crime map layer has been removed from all search results on the website “to rethink the safety information we share on Realtor.com and how we can best integrate it as part of a consumer’s home search experience.”

Doctorow said the removal was part of a company effort to “level the playing field” and scrutinize what safety means to buyers and renters so that it can “reimagine how we integrate safety data” on the platform. Realtor.com has been collaborating with fair housing advocates as part of the initiative.

On the same day that Realtor.com announced that it was removing its crime data, Redfin came out with a full-throated denunciation of crime data being included on real estate websites. Redfin’s chief growth officer Christian Taubman announced that, after consideration, the company would not be adding crime data to its own platform.

The announcements by the two real estate search companies come amid other diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives in businesses across a wide spectrum of industries. Executives at major companies have been championing environmental, social, and political causes.

Michele Tafoya’s NBC role changing after Kaepernick remarks on ‘The View’: report

Michele Tafoya’s NBC role changing after Kaepernick remarks on ‘The View’: report

Michele Tafoya will no longer be the sideline reporter for NBC’s "Sunday Night Football" after this season, according to a report.

NBC’s coverage of the upcoming Super Bowl in February is expected to be her final appearance on the sideline for the network, the New York Post reported. Her role afterward remained unclear.

The apparent decision comes several weeks after Tafoya was criticized for making comments about former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick during an appearance on ABC’s "The View."
