Crowd last night

I was shocked at the crowd. This fan base is literally starved for some winning football. Just give us a little hope and look at the turn out for Akron. AKRON!

Compare last night with the home crowd at Pitt. That stadium looked maybe 70% full—and 60% of those fans were wearing orange. And we bring 100,000 fans for Akron. Amazing.

They also had hundreds of jr cheerleaders on the field before the game leading cheers. At halftime there were 10 high school bands from the state that participated in the half time show. Thanks to UT for getting upper deck tickets to lots of kids, parents, high school staff, etc for a memorable evening.

This. I'm not knocking the fact that UT fans are starved for a winner, and this didn't drive the over 16,000 new season tickets sold this year - the most since they started keeping track. But this did fill the seats for what would otherwise have been a fairly ho-hum game for fans - one that in other years would have been about half-full. Danny White is a genius.

Looked completely full—aside from the new plush seats behind the home sideline. some of the best seats in the house went unused.

Either way, it’s exciting to see people get up for a non conference (and non-competitive) game.

You are 100% correct, the new plush seats in the hoity toity soft comfort driven section that reduced stadium capacity were never full at any point. Nor were they full for the Ball State game....So glad we went to all the trouble and expense for them.... (insert eye roll)
