Interesting vid, i hope he is successful, it was hard watching Crompton fail and be benched last year.
He sounds like he had humble pie last year. Not a bad thing. I wish he'd not say "uhhh" in interviews though.

Like how the camera was taping the blond in the background midways through

I noticed that too. I was going to ask if anyone else saw the camera poking around the room checking out the ladies.

As far as the interview goes, I felt like they pretty typical questions with the typical answers. No surprises. Its still always good to hear that they players could care less about the negative media attention and just can't wait to step back onto the field and get better everyday before Sept 5.

Thanks for the link. I hope Crompton can show he's been "working his butt off" and be a competent QB for us.

JC has always been a very hard worker. From the time he got to UT he has worked his butt off. The issue with him has been mental. Is he smart enough under pressure to handle the game? He has the ability to make the throws but the mental part of the game has caused him trouble. Let's see if he has matured enough to handle that aspect of the game. I'm not holding my breath but I hope he has.

. . .I hope Crompton has learned to read defenses and make some quicker correct decisions better than he comes across verbally. . .if you catch my drift!

Coach O needs to chill out on the head coaching thing...if he does well at UT he will get paid and not have to deal with all the BS that comes with being a HC.

Money matters but being a head coach matters a lot to them as well. And a head coach at a big school will make more than an asst.

JCrompton looked lost last year. I say that as a fan who celebrated when he signed with the VOLS. Maybe it was the new offense, maybe it was him, I don't know and I feel t here were some minor injuries he dealt with not known to all of us (seem to be a lot of rumors to that effect following the ucla debacle...or maybe excuses on his part).

I do know Chaney's track record with QB's has been pretty dog gone good...so I am hoping for the best, i.e. Crompton gets off to a good quick start or (and I hate to say it) looks like the JC of 08 against WKU and Stephens steps in. The physical tools JC has are better than some of the QB's Chaney developed at Purdue...but there is not much time for development and that might bode well for Stephens if JC plays skittish/tentative/sucks.

Regardless I can't cheer against a VOL so I am wishing JC the very best.

GO VOLS

I think he is best suited as a DC/Position coach. HC is might be what he sees is his future. He owns the previous positions, and will be compensated as well as a HC wherever he wants to go. Ala Monte.
Thats why I think he stays as long as Monte does.

Fixed!! :)

He seems alot more relaxed than last year. I wonder if the burden of not having to look over his shoulder at someone stealing playing time is the reason? Maybe he has a better grasp on this offense. From what I have read Kiffin and Co. are keeping it simple

Thanks for the link Tide. Good info on several levels. Good to have a cival rival on board. Pardon the drool on your avatar.
Thanks for the hospitality. I enjoy visiting, chatting with you guys and keeping up a little with what's going on with the Vols. I like to see all SEC teams do well, as long as the Crimson Tide beats 'em. The SEC lost a little bit of it's "swagga" last season with the Vols, Awbarn and JeaLSU having down years. I think all three will be improved this season.

IMO, that would be the smart thing to do. Keep it simple. Leverage that senior laden O-line to UT's advantage. Mix an inside running game with play action passing plays that fake those same running plays with routs designed to open quickly, giving JC safe throws he's good at consistently making. Mixing it up well is the key because it makes the defense play honest. You also have to throw deep now and then to keep the D honest. But most importantly you must minimize turnovers, take what the defense gives you to keep the chains moving, and play good defense and special teams. That was pretty much Bama's formula last season. If your QB has limitations (which JPW did), don't set him up for failure, like UT, USCe and LSU made the mistake of doing last season. The resulting sacks, interceptions and fumbles will kill you. It'll be interesting to see what approach CLK takes.
