Crompton still starter/Looks Like We're Stuck With Crompton (merged)

I don't think that Lane was all coachspeak when he talked about his play calling. Even in WKU game he settled Jon down with very quick throws/wr screens. Kiffin would undoubtedly change his playcalling dramatically if he could call the UCLA game over again.

Kiffin is cocky. After watching Jon practice for a few months he probably thought "I can turn this guy into an average SEC QB."

The rest of us have been there and done that. Some believe that he would have better luck walking on water or raising General Neyland from the dead. I think he felt compelled to try.

Lane will give him a manageable game plan in the swamp. If he fails miserably, I wouldn't expect a do over.

That's the most realistic assessment I've read. Thanks for that!

I remember in '96 when we were playing Bama, and we laid a couple of hard hits on Freddie Kitchens. I heard several people in the stands say they were worried that Kitchens would get hurt and Bama would put in someone better. Think other teams think that way of Crompton? They are afraid for us to pull him b/c someone else wouldn't throw as many picks.

Not sure. I can say, though, I was hoping like hell that Jay Barker's legs would get snapped in two on more than one occasion.

Clay Travis hit on the same point when he said in his article that UCLA fans were cheering every time Crompton ran onto the field.

I really hope he proves them, me, and everyone else wrong. He'll have his shot at Florida. It's kind of the best and worst of places. No one is expecting him to play well, so there isn't high expectations to live up to. Plus it's a huge opportunity for him. On the other hand, it is the #1 team in the country playing at home in one of the nation's loudest stadiums. It could also be the makings of a colossal disaster.

JC is running out of chances to turn his legacy around. He has enjoyed the lest amount of personal and team success, that I can remember any QB having in a while. I was hoping that he could get a fresh start this year, and get it going on a good note to finish the year, and help lay the foundation for our future teams. Heres to you Jon, time is running out.

Im not looking for him to beat UF this weekend, but I expect him to give our team a chance to move forward.

at what point / milestone in the Florida game does JC get pulled? First interception? 4 consecutive 3 and out?

Those Tennessee teams that pulled those major upsets had some decent QB's.

The best UT fans should hope for is that JC doesn't turn it over all game long. That would be a good sign for UT.
