Crompton received death threats???

The way he played last year, I'm surprised he didn't send death threats to his own self.

Ok.ok..bad joke. But the kid can not play football, so let's rouse up a nice little sob story to send him out on a sympathetic note and everybody's happy. Meanwhile, we still don't have a quarterback worth a hoot and the season is fast approaching. Jonathan Crompton is still alive and well. Our offense, sadly, is not.

Nice way to not sugar coat anything:good!:. Don't worry that sad reality will hit home in game 2 or 3 next year.

I guess we should have just never reported Lofton's cancer either to make excuses for his subpar play? I really fail to see where anyone is using it garner sympathy for what JC does on the field.

Look back through this thread and read the many posts that say "Well, I hated the way he played last year, BUT death threats are going too far." I am not for death threats in any form or fashion, but I'm not so stupid that I can't see what the media is trying to do- overshadow how terribly he plays with something even worse, in this case, death threats. On another note, it is idiotic that that story was ever published in the first place. Players' and coaches' personal lives should be untouchable. Now every goofball lunatic that hadn't already come up with the idea of sending him a death threat will have that reporter to thank for another stupid prank to pull.

LOL@Jim Rome

To the loonies who sent threatening e-mails to JC:

Get a life and don't threaten his!

Add Rome to this now and you get really bad pub for the university and our recruiting. Kids don't wanna be threatened guys.
I don't think when people do stuff like that they realize that they really hurt more than just the player they do it to..They hurt the program in the long run

Exactly. It just pisses me off to no end. I mean we already have issues with depth and grades. Now we have the idiot section of the fan base sending death threats?

If you wanna be mad, be mad at Fulmer for letting the inmates run the show for the last 5-10 years.

If whoever did this gets on here. Go F*** yourself douche bag. Go be a Bama fan, where stupidity is accepted if not welcomed. :banghead2:

Well its just like for example the Florida game last year....The fans booing the boys running of the field was retarded, that was a big recruiting weekend...I mean I understand being mad when they are playing bad but my God....That can't help recruiting and as bad as I hate it for John Crompton keeping it quiet was probably best for him and the program..But now that's it come out it probably could be a really bad thing...I mean I guess there is 2 ways to look at

1. The fans are passionate about their football team they hate to see them lose and they hate when they play bad which is a good thing but taking as far as death threats is ridiculous

or

2. The people in Knoxville, while passionate about their football team, are freaking crazy and I don't wanna go play there if that's how they are

Yes they may look at it like that. But when you get into threating a man's life b/c he can't play football good is ridiculous. These are all teenage kids and they are seeing this. Plus all the other schools are gonna destroy us when they talk to them. It is a domino effect that may hurt us for a few years. But maybe not. Who knows.

I agree..I know if I am Urban Meyer or Nick Saban I'm loving the fact that this kid come out and said this, I know I would use it...I don't think Crompton is as bad as he showed last year guys, I can't help but think we are going to see a different guy on the field...For his sake, I want him to play good next year not just so we can win but so he won't have to deal with crap like that.

Man I am praying that he improves. He can't get any worse, I know that. I mean if you go back and look at the UCLA game, he actually played OK. He is the reason we got into field goal range at the end of the game. Chaney is a very good QB coach and he will improve. How much is the question.

The idiots who did this obviously didn't take coaching into account. That was half of Crompton's problems. He has had 4 damn O.C.s in his 5 years too.

If this academic thing is true it won't matter if he plays good or not. We take a big hit and lose starters, we are in a bunch of trouble. Depth is already thin.

I think that he will improve alot, some folks on here say they didn't see much improvement in him during the O&W but to me he looked good, he didn't make many stupid decisions and he bounce passed it one time, the only bad thing he done was throw that pick 6

I will almost gurantee you that 95% of last year was bad coaching, I think it was bad play calling most of all Clawson didn't know how to scheme against a defense to save his life or his job for that matter, I think I could have done better than he did

As far as the academic thing, I think its all hearsay....Keep your fingers crossed though

Hate to say it, but it doesn't surprise me. Never underestimate people's ability to lack perspective and act like morons.

How True! You have to be a real Dic* to do something like that to a 19 years old kid. When I was 19 I needed help to tie my shoes, but not as much now that I'm 45. :tease2:

I've wondered if the shoulder surgery he had as a freshmen, affected his ability to throw a football. He doesn't have the arm strength or accuracy that you would expect from the #2 rated QB prospect.

I can understand throwing in double coverage, but overthrowing, throwing at people's feet, etc. Doesn't look like his high school film I saw.
