Well there wasn't much to do on a Fall Friday night in the 90s except watch Harpeth Football. But I've heard stories from way back my dad was a CCCHS Alum

i just don't see how crompton beat out anybody. and i'm not trying to make fun. but anybody who watched the same games i did last year can see this guy can't do it. thought nick stephens in the uga game was decent but got the dog house after channeling george brett on the staff.

this case kelly intrigues me. i really believe him coming on board forced bj's hand.

your source as to CASE KELLY comeing on board.thought he signed a baseball contract.

I started this thread back on April 3rd. I think it is playing out just as I thought...

Kiff's Strategy...Start Crompton...

I think that The Kiff has a perfect strategy in mind. Love him or hate him, if Crompton starts, Kiffin can go all over the country to the Heap's and Bell's of the world and say, "Hey, our QB is a senior...you will have the chance to play as a freshman!" If either of the other two start, that pill becomes a little harder to swallow, IMO.

as has been posted many time, you are assuming he is ok with giving up on this season by not playing the best he has. No way can I believe that's the case

Crompton always looks good in practice but flounders when it counts. That said, whoever is in at quarterback, I hope they light it up.

I think the coaching staff knows what they are doing. They believe that JC will be more ready when August comes around than BJ would have been. They are not going to sacrifice games just to recruit, because UT fans would call for their heads. It just doesn't make sense to me that Lane Kiffin would have open competition for each starting position.... except QB (and EB's spot).

yeah i remember one was matthew tant. played fb at vandy. he was a big kid.

my bro (in his spare time) covers the cheatham co. cubs for the ashland city paper. he loves it. though i don't think they are worth a damn. he tries to put a positive spin on it.

Is he the guy with the shaved head?

As far as Cubs football goes just about every one of their losses came to teams ranked top 20 in the state this past year. My son goes there so we know a bunch of the kids on the team, they were decent nothing very special though.

Casey Kelly was part of the 2008 recruiting class and he never made it in. He signed a baseball contract. You must be thinking of Mike Rozier who is leaving baseball to walk on at UT this year as a QB. Either way, I don't think a walk on that has not played football since 2004 is a huge threat to any of the QB's right now.

I didn't get to see the spring game, but was Crompton even good in the game?

I just saw it on TV but he made several nice throws and he made some horrible throws. He missed some open guys and there were several complete passes where the pass was not quite where it should have been. He also bobbled the 2nd snap of the game (although he didn't fumble it) and he threw a pretty ugly pick where there was some miscommuncation between him and the receiver. Very up and down, which is worrisome since the defense was so vanilla. But it's not like we were expecting a lot out of him anyway.

JC gives CLK more oppurtunity telling recruits they can step in and start since our QB will be leaving next year.
I have a feeling what they are going to do this year is run hard and run often. They will coach JC on how to manage a game and give him easy and short reads.
We should be fine as long as JC keeps his cool and gets the ball out of his hands fast.
