We're basically playing a one sided football game with Crompton at qb. Our running backs can't flourish because the opposing defense knows that Crompton is a handicapped qb and that we are scared to throw.:realmad::realmad::realmad::realmad::realmad::realmad::realmad::realmad:

Crompton played pretty well in my opinion. Not great but if Gerald would have stayed in the endzone on that one pass, his stats would look good.

How Crompton hurt us was not necessarily the mistakes he made during the game. It is more of how he handicaps what we can do on offense. Rick Clausen wns this game today.

No he doesn't. Rick was worse than JC. He just had more talent around him.

Hate to say it but I agree about Crompton being a handicap for his team. He just can't handle pressure, never has. What I want to know is who will be the QB next year. Haven't heard of any wonderful aspects.

I don't agree with the OP but I agree with the poster who said he handicaps the play calling. You can say Crompton didn't play bad all you want but that's how the staff set the game up. Most of his completions were to the running back or fullback. Also, I thought Crompton should have thrown the ball a lot sooner to to Jones or Cooper. Both were wide open for an hour. Jones shouldn't have run out of bounds because it makes him ineligible even if he comes back in but Crompton should have thrown it 5 yards before he went out of bounds. Jmo.

what the hell is an aspect? You mean prospect? Go check the recruiting forum. 4* Tyler Bray will be the signal caller next year

Give the guy a break. He was completely mismanaged by Fulmer. On the job training is difficult at best in the SEC. By mid season he and his receivers will get it together. 10 point loss to a number one team---quit your whining. Go Orange!!!!!

Haha. It's amazing he didn't see Cooper. He was throwing to his backs all game only had Jones and Cooper in front of him on the roll out. Cooper may have been a yard or two shy or he may have gotten in the end zone. Could have gone either way but he was wide open right in front of Crompton.

Yeah. I couldn't believe the first time they ran the ball on 3rd and 12. I mean, I understood but it was astonishing. I was even more amazed they converted. They did it a few more times in the game though. Even when the run wasn't working. They basically played not to get blown out. They left it in the hands of the defense to make the game look respectable. It was bad enough the first time they only got 3 though. They definitely should have gotten 7 the second time they put up 3. I am happy with the outcome but with a quarterback, I just know the team does better and probably even wins.

Fact is tennessee has just started a rebuilding program. If you think we should have an undefeated season or beat FLA, you're smoking banana peels or eating mushrooms.

Give the kid a break or go support the FLA program if you can't support this one.

Yea try supporting the vols instead of beating down the qb evert week or find another team. As a vol fan I am tired of hearing the negativity. GO VOLS!!!!

I think today was as good as we will ever see JC. He did all he could do and the play calling helped out a great deal. We can win against most if he plays this well but there will be some of the more powerful SEC teams that will not let this limited O beat them. TN's only hope in tight games is to stay within 7 points because this offensive scheme can't catch up easily.

All in all, today was good and it was good to see JC play as well as he did.

Considering if we even have decent QB play we win that game, I don't see how it's that crazy.

And what's rebuilding got to do with expecting a senior QB to play better than he is. It's obvious to anyone that paid attention how he handicaps the offense. Did you not notice that when we opened up a bit starting the second half, he threw and interception?

That is exactly correct, Crompton kills us on offense because Kiffin has no faith in him and rightfully so. When any defense knows you are not going to throw you are screwed much less a very good defense like UF. Crompton is just not a good QB period! Its not his fault, and I don't mean anything against him but he has no traits of a great QB or even a decent one. He stares down receivers, he hesitates to throw to wide open receivers and then throws after the window closes. He just looks so uncomfortable all the time in there, this reminds me of Lovie Smith refusing to bench Grossman knowing it had to be done. Who knows, Stephens may not be any better but how will we ever know? He at least should get a shot, last year he was better than Crompton. He looked more comfortable in there and was more decisive on throwing the ball and had a good deep ball. If we leave Crompton in there we will loose some games we should win, mark my words.
