Crompton For Heisman...

He showed promise. He did. I didn't expect him to go out and throw for 5 TD's in each game, but he looked decent. As a matter of fact, he looked like a red shirt freshman playing in big games. Look, I am with the rest of the Vol Nation when it comes to JC, I think he is a terrible QB. That being said, in those games he showed flashes of potential. The kid wasn't a 5 star recruit for nothing, but I think so far he is a headcase.

By the same argument do we need to tell the Titans Chris Johnson was a 2-star recruit and just wait for him to start playing like one?

Alright, let me try this again.

-I am in no shape, form, or fashion a Crompton fan. Never have been, probably never will be.

-Last year was a terrible year for EVERYONE on offense. Crompton looked especially awful, but no one else looked much better.

-In his games in 2007 against LSU and Arkansas, he has flashes of potential. He made a few good throws, had a few good runs. Statistically, he was no Peyton Manning, but he also was a red shirt Freshman against SEC defenses.

-To be rated a 5 star QB coming out of high school, one must show ability to play the position. Yes, scouts have been wrong before, and are probably wrong in this case. Only JC can prove them right, and us wrong as fans.

-All that being said, and given our current QB situation, I would not be suprised if Crompton is A) Named the starter, and B) has a decent season.

-For the record, I am a B.J. Coleman fan, and would love to see him get the chance to shine.

Those two games were 06, not 07.

What will we overestimate this year?

For some - the defense. I don't think it will be bad, but there are going to be some who get so drunk on the kool aid that nothing short of the number one defense in the land will prevent their hangover.

I agree, this defense won't be as good as last year's

Call me crazy, and I can't believe I am saying this myself, but I wouldn't be too suprised if Crompton has a good year this year. Maybe 25 TD's or so and 3000 yards.

I wouldn't be surprised either. He comes out this fall, realizes he doesn't have a prayer of winning the starting job, and transfers to Sewanee, where he throws for 3,000 yards at the D-III level.

Yep Crompton is the most talented QB we have..he just makes bad decisions. In a simpler offense that isn't Clawson's he has a chance to be much better than he was last year. It wouldn't surprise me.

Alright, let me try this again.

-I am in no shape, form, or fashion a Crompton fan. Never have been, probably never will be.................. I am a fan of anyone who puts on that orange uniform if it's Crompton then I am a Crompton fan.

-Last year was a terrible year for EVERYONE on offense. Crompton looked especially awful, but no one else looked much better. :good!:

-In his games in 2007 against LSU and Arkansas, he has flashes of potential. He made a few good throws, had a few good runs. Statistically, he was no Peyton Manning, but he also was a red shirt Freshman against SEC defenses.................. I think lots of people forget about this... I was at that LSU game and remember thinking "in a year or two this kid could be great". Not to say I thought he was great then, but if not for a bad spot on a Russel fourth down run we win that game. Remember JC plowing over the defender in that game I know I was pumped about it.

-To be rated a 5 star QB coming out of high school, one must show ability to play the position. Yes, scouts have been wrong before, and are probably wrong in this case. Only JC can prove them right, and us wrong as fans................. I don't blame Jon for this but Phil and his offensive carousel. Not many kids could learn a new playbook every year and thrive.

-All that being said, and given our current QB situation, I would not be suprised if Crompton is A) Named the starter, and B) has a decent season. ..................... IF and that's a BIG IF he is named the starter he WILL have a good -great season. But that goes for whoever the Qb winds up being.

-For the record, I am a B.J. Coleman fan, and would love to see him get the chance to shine............ Again I am a fan of anyone who puts on that orange uniform.
