A buddy of mine teaches at Jeff. County. He is involved with FCA. Now, with JCHS being so close to Knoxville and one of the 2 or 3 largest high schools in the state (by population), we've often had athletes from UT show up and speak (Ace, Hall, etc.). So, Thursday night UT's Chaplain (didn't get a name) came and spoke to the club after the game. My buddy was just talking football with him after the small meeting and inevitabley the topic of Crompdaddy came up.

According to the gentleman, Crompton accepted God a few weeks ago. The man said that he and Cromp had been talking and that he had been praying for JC for a while (as he had obviously gone through some rough times). Well, last Saturday before the UGA game, the two shared a prayer. Apperantly, the Chaplain told JC that he really felt that God had some amazing things in store for him.

Lo-and-behold...

Looks like Tebow isn't the only QB with a divine edge! Well, the Lord wears Orange afterall!

The guy that called to tell me this is not someone who just throw THIS out there. He's a pretty strong Christian and was really looking to share something positive. He's also been my best friend for about 15 years. I'm not saying that this, in any way, explains a great game...just being a little light hearted. Take it for what you want...just thought I'd share some good news.

Go Vols!

I'm religious, and I don't want to laugh at someone finding God, but all that sounds like a really strange way to explain a good game.

Hey man, you're entitled to your opinion, but I'm happy for him...whether he continues to look like an SEC QB or not.

I'm religious as well but why couldn't have Cromp Daddy found Jesus at the start of his career?

Haha

Yeah, I thought that too. Just nice to know the kid isn't ready to go Jim Bob Cooter on us.

If true I'm happy for Jonathan. Eternity lasts longer than football season. However, I doubt God has the success of our beloved Vols at the top of his priority list, and thus I don't think this means we are going to go 6-0 the rest of the year. I am glad that Jonathan has gained some perspective on life. He has endured a lot of suffering and that puts him in some great company, like some other guy named JC. Hopefully that improved attitude will help him weather some rough moments this season, like he did after the pick 6 against UGA. There are surely more to come - starting in Tuscaloosa.

Yeah...I'm not trying to say that Cromp turns into Marino...just sharing some good news.

As a Christian, it absolutely does not explain a good game... perhaps a change in his mindset, but God's not going to start completing passes for him. As a Christian, I lost 29 out of 30 of my highschool games. I believe that 'splains it all.

God will bless you tho. If you are a Christian he will do amazing things in you life!

I actually heard that this happened the week before the Florida game. My sister goes to the BCM at UT and told me that during a meeting that week they were told Crompton had gotten saved and they were reaching out to him with positive emails and such.

Notre Dame prays before every game, right? Maybe that's why they've won so many close games.

Who cares if he finds God, Allah, Buddha, Jehovah, whatever.

We need divine intervention for JC to step up against Bama. I don't care where he gets it

I have as much right to post my opinion as you do.

Who do you think Jesus has his money on for Heisman now, Tebow or Crompton?

Well I mean it's just kind of disrespectful to be doing this :post-4-1090547912: to Crompton . I mean your just laughing at him for finding God. I'll probably get bashed for this but so be it.

I didn't expect everyone to be receptive...just wanted to share.

I probably should've posted in another thread rather than starting a new one. I don't want this to turn into a religious debate guys...sorry.

I think this story is a little funny. Not because Crompton found God, but because of we've spent a week trying to figure out why he may have gotten better, and the reason we are at now is Divine Intervention.

You never know!

Nahh...maybe it was the fact that his fanbase wasn't ready to burn him at the stake?

With possibly injuries aside, I seriously doubt God gets involved in football games...there are more important issues at hand. But if Crompton's faith helps give him more confidence I'm all for it.
