CP3 Traded to the Lakers

Apperantly it was the Clippers. I can't wait to hear what Billups has to say. If true, the Paul to Clippers deal will be officially dead.

Why's that?

I thought the highest bidder gets him and only that portion of their salary goes against their cap? Maybe they only offered a couple mil. Then Knicks pick up the rest of the tab.

Isn't that how it works?

Maybe I just made that up in my head somehow. lol

I'm not exactly sure, but everything points to the Clippers moving on. This is great news for the Lakers. In my opinion, it will either be Los Angeles or nothing for Chris Paul until at least Christmas. With the Odom trade, the Lakers now have that extra draft pick Stern wanted to be included. I'm sure they'll make another offer by Wednesday or Thursday.

Wonder if the Clippers are going after Howard now.

Nets considered blocking the Magic since they want Howard and Howard wanted Billups.

Evidently, CP3 to the Clippers talks are back on.

After the Clippers walked away from talks, sources said the NBA was trying to salvage the discussions.

The NBA remains "hopeful," according to the source, that Paul's fate can resolved "soon."

One source said the NBA is motivated to get a deal completed by Tuesday.

Billups claim could pave way for CP3 deal - CBSSports.com

The Chris Paul talks that would never die were revived Monday night, with a twist that was enraging some rival general managers. The Clippers' winning waiver claim on Chauncey Billups allowed them to include point guard Eric Bledsoe in the deal, which could push it over the finish line, league sources told CBSSports.com.

Just leave Paul where he is and sell the Hornets at a price that will get them sold before the trade deadline. Let the new owner deal CP3.

That's pretty much the best way for the league to save face.

I wonder why they couldn't have included Bledsoe without Billups. They would still have had Chris Paul and Mo Williams. Now they'll have Chris Paul, Mo Williams and Chaunce Billups? I don't get it.

I thought about that too. IMO it has something to do with them also giving away Gordon and the fact that Billups can play some 2. Gonna be a problem on defense, but Paul-Billups-Butler-Griffin-Jordan would still be one of the better lineups in the league.

Plus, there's also the possibility that they use the amnesty clause on Mo Williams anyway.

Stern will allow a trade to go through, but unless the Hornets can get all that they were offered, plus Eric Gordon, it won't be as good of a deal as the initial trade.

Stern is doing this because he wants the Hornets to be worth as much as possible when a new owner comes in. They may not have Paul, but having some young players and some extra draft picks could help the franchise's value and could help them rebuild faster.

Stupid.

I could care less about how many championships the Lakers have. I think it's b.s. that players can force teams to trade them to a team of their choice for garbage. Given the age, contracts and injuries of Odom, Gasol and Bynum... who would trade a young player that single handedly carries their team without Kobe? They've got Kobe taking 30 shots and hitting clutch shots. They couldn't even make it to the championship last year which makes me doubt their ability to carry a team to the playoffs at all. Howard carried his team to the championship and Paul carries a bunch of scrubs to a bunch of wins during the regular season. It should take all three of Odom, Bynum and Gasol just to get either one.

Btw, never use jealousy as an excuse again. If I wanted to cheer for multiple teams, I would. Unlike you, I cheer for Tennessee in both sports and one team in every league. If I was jealous of other teams winning, I'd be like you and jump on bandwagons. It wouldn't be hard to call myself a North Carolaina or Duke fan in basketball. Aside from the fact I'd rather shoot myself

But it's okay if the team trades them to some where they don't want to go?

Wasn't a good trade. I'll take Eric Gordon, a guy who gave me 22/4.5 last year while shooting 45% at 22 over a guy who basically went 75% of the regular season because of bad knees.

I think it's a bad trade. And if he bolts for NYC and doesn't sign an extension, it's legendary bad.
