Yeah, I've also pondered this scenario. Initial reaction would be consternation. But after that, most Bama folks would be all smiles. Auburn would be tying itself to a coach who was invited to resign due to mediocre performance. Arguably (this past decade...) CPF didn't maximize the potential of his players while at Tennessee; it wouldn't bother me if that malady shifted to Auburn. The Auburn-Tennessee clashes would be fun to watch. And Bama would have added incentive when playing Auburn.
IMO it would be a bad deal for both CPF and Auburn... but stranger things have happened.
Only thing that would make this scenario even more entertaining is if CPF were piqued at UT, so he takes the Auburn HC position for minimum wage. I suspect his UT buyout stipulates UT will make up the difference in salary if he's hired elsewhere; so we'd get to watch CPF & Auburn implode on the field while UT pays CPF's salary. :yes:
