I really don't want to get blown out against Florida. They are going to try and score 100 points on us.
I think that our defense will continue to play strong.

What I'd like to see is for our offense to run AS MUCH TIME OFF THE CLOCK AS POSSIBLE. Wait till the last second to snap the ball, running plays, just anything to run the game down. Don't give Florida a chance to run up the score.

Those guys will be mad as hell by halftime if their not winning by 28 points. They could get in a hurry and try to make things happen and then mistakes will be made. Not to mention, their defense could get very tired in the 4th quarter.

This is just my opinion and I'm not a coach, just a hopefull vol.

The defense will do well until they get tired from being on the field so much.

I doubt the offense will be able to run the clock because gator defense will stack the box and dare Crompton to throw. There will be lots of 3 and outs.
Or interceptions.

It's all about turnovers, for both teams. We could win if we can force turnovers, however; if they force us to turn the ball over then it could get ugly just because we don't have the offense fire power. I do expect our defense to play tough though, either way.

I just hope the game is somewhat in question going into the 4th quarter. Because if that is the case, that serves notice to Florida that in upcoming years the war will be on.

No, because our offensive turnovers will have the D so wore out, by haltime, we won't be able to stop them

I think our D will give them big problems. You guys need to remember that they think they're going to just smash us and we won't hit them back in the mouth. Also Florida hasn't faced an animal like our D. And Monte will give Tebow fits.

Depends what do you consider in it?

I think the defense can keep it respectable till probably midway through the third then exhaustion is going to take its toll and Florida will pull away. I expect about a 10 point lead for Florida going into the half unless Crompton serves them up some easy points.

In the words of Lee Corso, "Forget about it!" We've upgraded our defense and in a lot of ways, we've upgraded our offense. Last year, our offense had more yards than UF, and our D held them. Our breakdown was with 3 lost turnovers - as it is every game it seems.

If we do NOT turn the ball over (that's a big "if"), we're not only in this game, we may be controlling it.

Our defense is real and it will hold up against UF. The game was closer than the scoreboard displayed.

I just don't think so. UCLA scored 19 points on us, and I'm guessing UF's offense is slightly better.

I think our defense will make some plays and limit the FL offense at least in the first half. The problem is our defense will be extremely tired in the second half and the FL defense may score as much or more than the FL offense in the first half. If UCLA can cause that many turnovers, FL's defense is licking their chops, and they will look to get points on defense.

Yea that was with UT playing with 90% of its playbook and UF playing with about 40%

Highly unlikely. Best case scenario is to have our offense be conservative, and hope to catch a couple huge breaks for our defense. Being offensively conservative won't lead to the kind of drives that wear a defense down. They will know that Crompton can't throw and stack the box against the run. That's probably going to mean a lot of three and outs.

I'm not sure I've ever seen a game where the final stats were as misleading as the ones from the UF game last season. Florida dominated us in every facet that day. They really only played one half, and scored on short fields and special teams. Of course their offensive stats weren't going to blow anyone away.

All the cliches come into play: "Turnovers are key", "Special teams play is important", "Play a complete 60 minute game", etc, etc, etc

Exactly...the defense can't do much to prevent points off turnovers. As we found out against UCLA, even if you hold them to a FG, when your offense bleeds turnovers, the points add up. And, of course, UF is a much more dynamic offense than UCLA. It's hard to see a scenario where our defense can keep us in it unless UT plays perfect ball and UF falls apart.

On offense, the threat of the pass MUST be there or the gators defense will pin their ears back and come after Crompton. The biggest thing is Crompton does not have to win the game for us. Just manage the game JC.
Defense, we have to hit Tebow early and often. Rattle his cage a little bit, send guys from everywhere. We must have physical play from our corners and our young LB's must not get sucked in cause thats where the gators live in over pursuit.
I was very impressed with Nick Reveiz saturday. That guy is a head hunter.
Monte will give Tebow several looks and false fronts. We must make Tebow beat us through the air. I say we will get 2 picks off of Tebow.
If we can limit our mistakes on offense and dont give up the big play on D yeah i say we can be in the game in the 4th with a chance to win. If we throw picks and fumble see 07,08 gator games for the result.
The gators have not really been HIT yet, this defense brings the WOOD on every play.
We do have a chance but its a small window with no margin for error.
GO VOLS!!

The only difference in this game is UF's offense will have to be a lot more aggressive than it was a year ago (not that they wouldn't anyway) which will leave us at about the same result.. 31-10

UF could have taken a knee the rest of the game after Tebow threw that jump pass for a score in the 1st qtr last year

I think the danger is that Florida goes very aggressive on defense on their side of the ball to generate scoring opportunities.

I would just try 6-8 yrd passes on 1st or 2nd down. Stocker and Cottam are tall so why not take advantage of it. That keeps the clock going and moves the sticks. The only prob is Crompton prob cant even make those throws.
