Could be a 3 seed in CFP?

My guess for tomorrow:
georgia
tosu
michigan
tcu
tennessee
oregon

next saturday, Texas beats TCU and Vols move to #4.
when Vols win out and TOSU beats Michigan, Vols move to #3. #4 will be whichever PAC 12 school that finishes with only one loss.

If strength of schedule is really a big component, the Vols should stay in the top 4. If they had the toughest schedule prior to Georgia game, well, they still have the toughest schedule. They lost to the defending national champs, currently the best team in the country, on the road in their house and played poorly.

If these things are taken into account, it justifies UT being 3 or 4 at worst.

because TN was ranked 1st to begin the CFP rankings due to SoS... they should be 4 but I could see them moving TCU up since they are still undefeated.

Don't forget however, LSU beat Bama and we stomped LSU at home, so that's going to have more merit now too

As long as they are top 7, the rest will sort out. Alabama and Clemson losing really was awesome. Win out and Tenneseee is in. No way a one lose SEC team with a 14 point lose to the number 1 team with the wins Tennessee earned will be overlooked.

Looks like we’ll all be cheering for the wrong Orange at the other UT this weekend right?

This^^. I'll be shocked if it's anything but how you listed it. Bottom line is that we just need for Oregon, USC and TCU to lose at least one more each. If we don't romp in these last 3 games, I have a bad feeling we're gonna get left out. Might be that way no matter what we do in these last 3, but curb stomping the last 3 would certainly help our case and give the committee something to think about.

Here's who Tennessee football should root for to reach College Football Playoff (msn.com)

I don't disagree with this article, pretty much expected it.
Only thoughts is that LSU needs to lose and not win out to get in to the CFP
Still don't think they would take a 2 loss team to the CFP regardless of what happens.
Primarily I think OSU handily beating Michigan and TCU losing are best chance and most likely to occur...if this happens, and we take care of business, we're in, regardless of anything else happening. If Oregon wins out and wins conf championship, I could see votes sway to them over Vols or be #4 if committee doesn't want to see UGA/UT rematch in round 1. Not worried about LSU or OM...neither are beating UGA...and if they do, they'd deserve to be in over us.

Hate to burst everyone's bubble but I'm worried to death about not being able to control our own destiny. The CFB PO committee has NEVER taken a P5 non-champion when there is a champion available.

This is a poorly thought out article. 90% of it makes no sense and is inaccurate.

Ok. Sure. šŸ˜‚
the fact that they say they WANT LSU to lose before the SEC championship game (which would diminish our win even further) tells you all you need to know about whoever wrote this ā€œMicrosoftā€ article 🤣

The problem is, LSU has been playing great ever since we beat them. It's like we lit a fire under their ass. If they win out and prevent us getting into the CFP, we have no one to blame but ourselves.

Absolute must is OSU to win out and Vols to win out. 1 loss OSU gets in before us.

Didn't Notre Dame get in one year as a non-champ?

They went undefeated as an independent in 2018 and lost to eventual champion Clemson in the first round of the playoffs.

They agreed play a full ACC schedule in that crazy pandemic 2020 season, lost to Clemson 34-10 in the ACC championship game, but still got into the playoff, losing to eventual champion Alabama in the first round of the playoff.

So yes, that's twice Notre Dame got in as a non-champ.
