Could anybody give me a run down on what Coach Matthews said on his show yesterday?

He said it's early. People committed to UTK last year and did not sign with Vols so maybe next year Vols get some people who are currently committed to other teams. He did not sugarcoat importance of getting control of in-state recruiting but acknowledged that this staff will have to show something to get the elite recruits to take a serious look.

No offense Vol..Hill...

But if this is all it takes to have a radio show, then I dare say most any of us can spew this logic. "Prove it" and they will come? Wow- game changer.

I really like his show......Pretty cool how he went through the coaches.....knows a lot of them personally. Talked about the offensive staff would be a ahead of the defense, as most of them have been together, except two (indicated that he had been on 5 or 6 staffs and intact staffs are a huge advantage when going into spring ball). Said that Covid was a big problem with this years recruiting, as they are limited by lack of traveling and they are at a new school.....He also said that current player development was critical, as recruiting may be challenging this year.....He also noted that he thought some players (QB position was mostly noted) would transfer after spring and maybe a few would be added from the portal. His guest was really cool on the basketball team.....easy to listen to. Pretty cool.....

I was a kid. Used to listen to John Ward call Tennessee basketball back when Justus and Widby played. Golden memories sitting around the hi-if with Dad in the easy chair me laying on the shag carpet with the lights dimmmed letting Ward paint the picture so elegantly. “Bottom”. Still in awe of those late 60’s teams.

Both Justice and Widby went to my high school .. I can remember going to games as a kid ... and then followed them to UT and got to watch them there .. Widby lived close to me .. they were a great combo ...

Hinted that some things may change if the season isn’t a complete disaster like 2020.
Just got a text from my friend while I was in a business meeting. He just got back from the future in his DeLoreon and said this is most likely a possible scenario maybe.

My favorite was "nothing but string music".

Both attended the same church I did when I was a kid. So awesome getting to know sports heroes when your 6-7 years old. Both were great guys. So humble.
