I am afraid UGA will be loaded in 1-2 years, especially with Tyson and Green on the way.

So is Florida. If UT doesn't win the SEC this season, they most likely won't until Berry, Martin, etc are Seniors. Crompton needs to improve a lot.

LSU will be loaded, Saban will bring Alabama back to dominance, Auburn will be tough, Arky is up in the air, USC will be good if Spurrier does not leave. It looks very dim in the SEC for the Vols until it is Berry/Donald/Martin's team.

Not really - assuming Crompton can have an average season next year (or even possibly Coleman but I doubt it) we have as good a shot as anyone next year. I expect next years team to be better than this years.

Agree this year is a better shot than next year partly due to schedule. However UT will not be out of it next year if they do well this year... as it looks now the worst case is they'll return 8 offensive starters and 7 or 8 on D besides the young depth.

2009 however should be a very good year if things hold together.

Of course, this all assumes that the guys who are there now will be there then.

Problem is schedule Bassman. It will be UF's turn to get UT early while Crompton tries to adjust to starting and UGA, Aub, USC, and UCLA will all be difficult road games.

Football Freak, Bama is on a consistent cycle since the early 90's: losing season, mediocre season, 10 win season, losing season,.... This is their mediocre year by pattern so next year should be a good one.

However before they return to dominance, Saban will have to figure out how to get more talent to Bama. That will come at the expense of Miles, Richt, and/or Tuberville more than any others. It isn't reasonable to say that LSU, Aub, and Bama will all rise at one time... they recruit the same base.

Yeah the schedule is a bit tougher - but I'll take a trip to over-rated UCLA rather than Cal anyday.. we do get Auburn back but atleast they aren't as good as they were in 2003/2004.

Crompton already has valuable SEC experience so that's a plus... and assuming Mayo doesn't leave we will be loaded. We lose and Ainge and Hefney which will hurt but all this young talent will be more experienced. The D-line and linebackers will be solid - and with the JUCO's + Berry in the secondary it should be the best we've had in a few years.I can only see good things coming from next season.

Don't discount Mapu. If UT wins this year it will be partly because he has a big year. UT will need a quality JUCO DT next Feb to be in the hunt next fall IMO.

UCLA is building. They beat USC last year. I think they have numerous recruiting advantages over Cal. My belief is that if Carroll decides to move on, UCLA will step in... but the Pac10 is very unpredictable. A few years could bring the return of UW.

Who will have the most impact on the season? The coaches seem to like Brown better, but due to his size, soft hands, and speed for a white boy, I like Cottam better. I hope they both have big years.

Of Tebow, Mustain, and Stafford who do you like the best? We all know what Tebow can do on third and three, but what can he do on first and ten. My vote would have to go with him; haven't been that impressed with the other two.

Chris Brown should have been moved to fullback/H-back in my opinion.

I think he is an H-back/TE.

He is about the same size as a former Alabama player named Patrick Hape(from neaby Killen, Al.). He started a TE for Bama but was later moved to FB with great sucess. As far as I know he may still be playing in the NFL.

We, as far as I know, do not have a traditional I-formation FB unless David Hobert comes to life.

We have the freshman out of Baylor this year - but that's a problem - freshman.. although the learning curve of a freshman fullback is probably considerably less than a freshman WR/DB. Although - (not sure why I can't recall his name) he wasn't as highly touted as these new WR/DBs.

I think his last name is Cooper... My brother was in his graduating class at Baylor. Word is he is probably readshirting.

He was like the #3 FB in the nation coming out of HS.

FB rankings do not mean much, just look at Holbert. There are many LB's who get moved to FB like USC's Allen Bradford.
