I read Climer's column yesterday wherein he referred to Majors firing of Ken Donahue after the rough start in 1988 and Texas Tech's coach firing his DC this year after a bad start. The thrust of the column centers on the need for changes, including perhaps coaching changes, during the two week period between Arky St. and UGA. What I am wondering is, based on the contracts that Chavis and Cutcliffe have with the University, does Fulmer even have the authority to fire his coordinators anymore or is it going to be an AD decision?

Didn't Hamilton give in last year and give the coordinators multi year contracts when previously they had always been year to year contracts. I bet he is kicking himself on that one.

I'm not sure if Fulmer has the authority to do it, but I would think under normal circumstances he would have enough respect and inside power to force Hamilton to do so. Now we are past the point of no return. Either Fulmer turns the ship around, or everyone is gone. As for the multiyear thing, I'm not sure how it's been handled in the past, Chavis hasn't been year to year before though. But ultimately the non-homer, non good ole boy Hamilton is putting his foot down and not sitting on his hands by standing by his words that it is unacceptable to not win an SEC title every ten years on Rocky Top. He gave everyone 2 year extensions, pointing out that by next year it's now or never.

It would be tough to fire anyone before the season's over. They would owe a lump sum to chavis or cut. To shorten this,no. Rumors is probably all this is.

If Fulmer doesnt win against GA all the coaches jobs could be at stake.
I keep hearing that from middle TN media outlets. I can assure you that I would like to believe it but part of me wonders if this is a case of the media trying to craft a self-fulfilling prophesy?

he gave them two year extensions, i think with CPF's problems of his own, MH has most likely taken the reigns from CPF to fire anyone.... i alos think we are at the point that CPF does nothing without MH's hand in it.....example: the weekly meeting between MH and CPF...to be a fly on the wall.

well I do agree it will take more than just the GA game for him to be out. He would probably have to lose to bama and either Ky or Vandy as well.

It's hard for me to believe that MH can pull the trigger on anyone on the fb staff much less on Phil himself. Of course I thought Majors would be there until he died or became AD. I just wish somebody in America could explain to me how Larry Slade still has a job.
