The Boomer Esiason Foundation announced Monday that Tennessee senior Cooper Mays is a finalist for the Rimington Trophy, which annually recognizes the most outstanding center in college football.

Mays becomes the first player in Tennessee history to be named a Rimington Trophy finalist since the award's inception in 2000. He is one of three final candidates recognized by the committee in 2024, joining Western Michigan redshirt senior Jacob Gideon and Ohio State graduate student Seth McLaughlin.

The Mays family has given their all for Tennessee....until the next generation
There is a younger brother. He’s still young enough that he could choose not to even play football. He was all over the TV earlier this year.

ESPN is absent from voting, so Cooper stands a great chance in winning this award!!

While more than a dozen All-America teams are selected annually, the Rimington Trophy committee uses these three prestigious teams to determine a winner:
  • Walter Camp Foundation (WCF)
  • Sporting News (SN)
  • Football Writers Association of America (FWAA)

GREAT! They will probably give it the Osu player. You know the drill...........
That would be Seth McGlaughlin, the one they ran off at Alabama last you for the "yips. He probably won't win it because he suffered a torn achilles 3 games ago, but make no mistake, he is a big reason for their success this season. He is really, really good.

His absence has also been a big part of tOSU recent struggles too.
We saw it last year when Cooper wasn't able to play.
In today's game the Center is probably the most under valued position on the field...in a good offense, he's the guy that makes it run.
