The Tony Basilio Show
click on the blog for the report…you don’t have to listen to Basilios show.
just click on the link to READ the blog report….scroll down a little to ORANGE THROAT section.

We're in year 3. Next man up. No excuses.

What? CJH has 2 full recruiting classes on this roster…the youngest guys on the roster. OLine is a developmental position. He took over a roster with about 50 players. We clearly don’t the depth at every spot that we’ll have by Year 4 or 5 and it’s a minor miracle we have what we do have. This is a major blow.

But yeah, “no excuses, it’s year 3!” 🙄

The take that we can't play at our normal tempo without cooper is just bizarre click bait lol

So cooper is the our only center who is capable of figuring out where the ball is spotted and setting the line of scrimmage between snaps? If that were true, then elarbee is the most negligent online coach in America. We have loads of experience on the online and we've had weeks to get ready to start the season without cooper available, so get out of here with that crap lol

There's also this little thing called the transfer portal. No excuses. Next man up.

Lol. Center is the hardest position to replace on the OL. You can’t just slide anyone there.

So you're telling me we had absolutely no one else ready to go as backup to Cooper? Sorry but in year 3 that's not an excuse. Not in the era of the transfer portal. Next man up.

You mean where guys who couldn’t get playing time at other schools go to look for playing time elsewhere? Tell me all the great centers who entered the transfer portal in the last 2 years.

It’s easy as a fan to say “no excuses” when you’re not the one doing the job. This roster still isn’t top level SEC deep because it’s only been 2 years. People like you forget that because of the incredible job Heupel has done. And you’ll be the first to complain if Tennessee doesn’t overachieve again this year.

Put it this way, if Fulmer could start Michael freaking Frogg at center, I'm sure Heupel can find a serviceable replacement for Cooper while he's recovering.

We are rolling out an AI version of an o-line? technology really has become pretty amazing. lol!!!

I agree with the first part, I think Ollie will slide in there just fine. Dont wanna rush Cooper back before he's ready.........going to be a long season and we're going to need him.

At this point if you haven't resigned yourself to being pleasantly surprised if Mays plays at all then you've been foolish. He can't stay healthy. Sad but just a reality for whatever reason.

Like someone said, we're 3 years in and they should have multiple options to fill the spot. Yes it is a difficult position to play but they've had time. Several of those guys have had a lot of snaps. Some guys have another gear when their adrenaline starts pumping like Hooker did. One of the options... will step up and be just fine.

I recall an ankle injury in 2021 but don't remember CM being injured last year.
