This thread was not about JG it was about a team and how you cannot put to much stock in this game whether it be a win or a loss. I looked at it as glorified scrimmage, that we would take what we learned and apply it to the game. Remember last year when the first two games we played like dog crap and LOST!!! This time we played like dog crap (2/13 on third downs)... and WON!!! Last year we could not beat Georgia st OR BYU... we played like crap and won on the road in the SEC @ night......yeah JG May become just a game manager after we get a few wins and let the defense play.....

A 5th year-senior that can't hit a receiver who was "wide open" (according to the announcers even) is a problem. Just like Iowa State, if we trade QBs last night....UT probably wins by 24 points.
Give me the game summary of that probably wins by 24. You guys are so unrealistic it's really hard to believe.

He missed a lot more than he hit. You are choosing to live in denial, my friend.
Please explain and show us where he missed a lot more than he hit. I'm guessing you use core math to come up with this false set of numbers.

Actually, I didn’t see the same timing issues on throwing late that we saw last year. He threw high a bunch and behind some but not because he was late. In fact, that last TD pass was likely not something we would’ve seen last year. That was a beautiful and well-timed throw. We need to figure something out in the red zone though. He really struggles down there.
Run the ball down there maybe throw it once

3rd down and the redzone is what most ppl look at when determining a qbs success..This is coming from NFL coaches media etc.Just a known fact it’s not the end all be all but is a good barometer on what u can expect.Unfortunately he’s been pretty bad in both those areas. Can it be coached outta him 🤷🏻‍♂️It’s been 5 years but he’s my qb so until otherwise I’ll support the dude.

It pains me to say it, but JG hasn’t progressed much in his five years here. His ceiling is low, and I believe he’s reached the ceiling.

Props for not making awful decisions and turning the ball over. On the other hand, he missed a lot of wide open passes. It seemed like a dozen by the end of the game. The JG criticism is valid.

Do we not have another QB on the roster who can hit an open man in stride? This is one of the fundamentals.
JG will be better next year.

I have seen on here so many threads on how JG sucks and can’t play or we played awful and this is ridiculous. Granted there will always be people who are going to hard on their team unless it is a 35-6 victory that goes for all FBS fan bases.

They said on SEC Nation that during the win streak the vols have won 4 games within one score, so winning regardless of how you play.
UGA played like absolute crap in the first half so let’s not be quick to judge.

Let’s look at this year as not your normal football year. This was not like we played 3 warm up games and looked pretty good in those then laid an egg. They didn’t even have spring practice just like USC. They didn’t have all of their practices and scrimmages they were suppose to have. Most of the WR were not 5ere for the ones they did have I think Pruitt said they missed an additional 3-4 practices. There are players each day that are out because of contact tracing. Even Pruitt said they played good in spurts but “they were not ready as a team to play at a high level”. We are not ready to play at a high level right now. If we can play good enough against Mizzou and build confidence we can play against UGA. LOOK at all the upsets that happened or should have happen in the top 10...... this is a different year guys it’s not your normal year and you have to take the first couple of games with a grain of salt. If by thr 3-4 game still doing the same things them YES.....YES...... we need to complain and belly ache

There is sarcastic gold on this thread that is sailing right over the heads of JG apologists.

(Metaphor intended)

I’ll watch the game again and see if I’m wrong, but I discount screens and remember several instances where receivers had to readjust to a poorly placed pass.

In fairness to JG, several receivers dropped balls that were very catchable.

People get so emotionally invested in the QB debate, but from a neutral perspective JG just doesn’t look like an experienced SEC QB. He looked improved to last year but still not upper tier SEC material.

You don't win SEC road games with bad QB play, maybe 1 or 2 a year but not 6 out of the last 9 and 5 conference wins in a row.
