Tennessee still controls its own destiny. Even with a loss to Texas A&M, the Vols control their path to Atlanta and to getting back to Tampa.
That path starts with a few major hurdles
1. Beating Bama on the 3rd Saturday
- Probably the biggest hurdle given that the game is the last of a brutal stretch of games for the Vols. Injuries have played a role. However, Bama may be caught looking ahead at Texas A&M. The Vols have also demonstrated the ability to play as a team. Have to eliminate turnovers - but so far this season - the only team that can stop Tennessee is Tennessee
2. The SEC championship game
- This will likely be a repeat matchup versus a Texas A&M or Alabama team. The only difference is that Tennessee will hopefully have returned some injured players.
3. The Playoffs
- If Tennessee makes it here, then they are likely peaking at the right time. The team knows how to win. Knows how to handle pressure. And brings a wealth of experience that will be unmatched by others who have floated through the season.
