GOP believes Democrats handing them Winning 2022 campaign

Republicans are riding high about their prospects for retaking both chambers of Congress in the upcoming midterms, thanks to the abundant campaign fodder they believe Democrats and the Biden administration have handed them in recent weeks.

Conservatives pointed to the surge of migrants at the southern border; difficulties getting kids back in school for in-person learning amid the pandemic; massive spending from the White House and Democratic-controlled Congress; the inclusion of progressive priorities in infrastructure and economic relief bills; and most recently a push among some Democrats to expand the Supreme Court as actions that will offer campaign fodder for Republicans in the months to come.

Some GOP lawmakers are gloating over their prospects even though the 2022 midterms are still 19 months away.

EXCLUSIVE -- With Republicans aiming to win back the majority in the House of Representatives next year, the chair of the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) says he’s seeing a surge in the number of GOP candidates filing to run in the 2022 midterm elections.

Rep. Tom Emmer of Minnesota, who’s headed the House GOP reelection arm since 2019, says that 431 candidates running for the House of Representatives as Republicans have already filed campaign committees. The NRCC says that’s 100 more candidates than at the same point in the 2020 election cycle.

But what really makes this a gut punch for Democrats is that both of the above names are Republicans. It was a complete lockout in a district that Democrats had not only hoped to compete in, but also flip blue. Nancy Pelosi can’t be pleased.

Republicans Add more names to their 2022 Democrat hit list: GOP is now Targeting 57 Seats to win and takeover in the Midterms

Republicans expanded their list of Democratic targets for next year's election, a sign rowing confidence in their ability to retake control of the House of Representatives.

The GOP campaign arm announced 10 new House seats they have their eye on for the 2022 midterms, bringing their total target list to 57 seats.

All 10 new targets come from states that are losing a congressional seat in the redistricting process.

Republicans need to pick up five seats in next year's election to win control of the chamber, putting GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy in charge and removing Nancy Pelosi from the speaker's chair.
