I am all for NIL, it's here to stay because of the Supreme Court ruling. It certainly needs to be a controlled business though. There needs to be plenty in contracts that protect the player, but also the universities. If you quit, you get nada, just like when someone quits a job. I'm in favor of having to pay back money if you up and quit

What Cam Ward did today to his teammates is crap. What a total bitch move. Dude just quit at halftime with the game on the line. Literally just quit. I've liked him all season, but I'm out on that dude. I would NOT draft him based on this alone. Call me old fashioned. Total ****** move by dude.

Just sit the whole game out. Hang up your college career after the last game of season, if you chose to make a "business" decision and I get that. Miami could have game planned and practiced the other QB after the season ended. He should have an obligation to Miami to finish the game unless, of course, he's injured.

I truly can't believe that dude went in the locker room at halftime and just straight up quit. Man that is a tough one for me. Dude can find his own damn transportation back to Miami. He WOULD NOT be getting on my team bus for sure.

****If it's determined he was injured, then I obviously take all this back. It has been widely reported though that he chose to sit out second half*****

Wonder if it was something discussed with the head coach prior to the game. If so. Then it’s on the coaches head. Plus Miami’s #1 receiver didn’t even suit up.

But I definitely agree with you on some form of contract.

What record did he break?
A TD passing record, but even this proves my point even more. Dude got his record and quit on his team, period, end of story.

I'd be pissed off if I played for the U. They went out there and suited up for the second half, while he watched after a "business decision". What a joke. He'd be off my draft board for sure ...

You can't have contracts without enforcement, and you can't have enforcement without a legal exemption, which you're only going to get if they're made regular employees.

Until they make players employees, and go down the same road the NFL did, you can't have contracts or penalties. Not in the way you want.

Yes he did and the rest of his teammates were fighting to win. They run away with it, if he gives a half ass effort in the 2nd half, imo. Disgraceful to the Miami players and fans that went to the game.

He could have propelled Miami to their first 11 win season in 21 years. Let that sink it.

It seems like it was predetermined that he wasn’t going to play the 2nd half. Not sure who he let down.

Why can't they be contractors? Self employed? Can they be 1040? Self employed people enter into contracts all the time.

The only reasons to be pissed
One is a Miami fan, the other is money on the caines. Otherwise who gives a damn

Just sit the whole game out then, if it was a business decision. I get not wanting to get hurt, which still sucks for your teammates, but hang it up and give the keys to the other guy for the bowl practices and the whole game. Is he thinking the record he broke will outweigh the stench of quitting?

I’m a Volunteer fan, don’t care how many wins Miami has or doesn’t have

So if it's Nico next year in the second half of a game that's on the line for the Vols you'd be hopping mad only at that point? You are missing the point. I'm talking about the current state of college football in general with this whole thread.

If it’s the pop tart bowl and he’s entering the draft then who cares?

Them I’m sorry. Not trying to be an ass. Just don’t understand why it matters to you whether Miami players chose to win or lose
That's not the point of this thread at all, but he is the player and that is the team that experienced this today and no matter what team it is, it sucks for his teammates and the fans and the sport in general

No one would if he would have just opted out of the whole game, because this happens every year. This guy was just like I'm done during the game.

What if it's not the pop tart bowl? What if it's a playoff game, semi-final game, national championship game?

I would be because I’m a fan of the team that Nico is currently the QB for. As for the current state of college football, it is imploding daily. Whether a player chooses to sit or not has no bearing on the current mess that this game has turned into
