So, my sister-in-law and a guy from her work are ventruing out on their own in ATL in commercial contracting. At least on the side for now, picking up nice jobs their boss/owner is passing on. She wants me to get my GA GC license to be their qualifying agent. Which I am working on the app currently. 3% of sold jobs not a bad side income as a QA. My question for any of you that are GA contruction guys, especially GC's, is concerning the practice exams, books, prep, etc. I see a wide range of material and costs ranging from affordable to dayum! So...Any suggestions, useful info, and so on?

Remember that you as the GC are responsible for their work. Financially.
They already have their LLC set up. I'm applying as a qualifying agent. They have to provide all the financials, net worth, insurances, etc.

We had en employee that is now retired that held the GC license and was qualifying agent for our company. The owners son has now aquired his license in multiple states to do hte same thing, and he lives in DC and has his own non-construction career.

In the field that I am in, the licensed individual is fully responsible for everything that every employee does. I understand the LLC philosophy but will that stand up in civil court?

Our owners son does the same thing for our company. He works for the DoD, but holds all our GC licenses in all the states we do business. He's just a qualifying agent. A 1099 consultant.
