Conservative runs up the middle almost cost us.

I am still so shocked that we won! One of the greatest games I've ever witnessed.

Even though we won, I still hope Butch Jones learns from his mistake (again) about being conservative at the end of the game with Kamara. I would like to see Dobbs carrying the ball at least one time during that episode.

Again, thrilled we won! I just want to see stay aggressive when we play our first good opponent next week.

Go Vols!

Didn't Dobbs pull it once?

Nope 3 runs to run out the clock and left a ton of time on the board. I was also wondering why they didnt keep trying to score on that drive. Tired of biting my nails completely off!

Our first good opponent next week? 2 Top 25 teams aren't good?

Gotta agree with the OP here. Conservative calls on the second to last possession were very reminiscent of the Florida game a year ago. We got bailed this year with a miracle from Dobbs and Malone.

Edit: Dobbs and Jennings.

I agree, was disappointed to see that response when we had just gotten the pick. I mean especially after they didn't use a TO on first down, run Dobbs out and tell him to throw only if it's open. We just need 6 or 7 yards on 3rd down.

That was playing not to lose and that's how you get beat...

Let's not freak out if we lose the next two games. We will still be in the drivers seat to win the East. As much as I would like to see us win both games ( A&M and Bama), I just don't see it happening and will be elated if we even win 1 of them. If we go 11-1 and somehow win in Atlanta we probably get in the playoffs. Will have to get Sutton, Maybin and Kirkland back for this to happen.

Of course if we could execute and make first downs it would be ok...but realistically, we have no future NFL players on our OL so it's tough to run on running downs...but I'm with Butch - I don't throw in those situations but I do run Dobbs...

UT deserved the miracle that we witnessed tonight; I agree with you. The play calling we saw, in our last offensive series, absolutely opened the door for UGA to win this game. They would have if not for the great pass and catch.

At some point our coaching staff will visit that well one too many times and will cost UT a victory.

If we get beat by a better team; I can accept that. But we saw losses at the hands of our coaches last year. I sure hope we never endure needless losses again. The Vols are better than a last second win against the Bulldog team UT defeated tonight.

Dobbs ran once during that second to last series. But i absolutely agree with the conservative approach. Butch it just so afraid to play aggressive and loose. It's why we fall behind in every game. We freaking punted from the 33! It's reminiscent of the fg from the 1 against Oklahoma.

Had Dobbs passed it and got an incompletion, Georgia would have had more time and if they had scored with 10 secs left from say the 10-20 everyone would have a cow...

Georgia should have never been able to throw a 40+ yard bomb in the closing secs after losing their last time out to boot. Georgia should have lost then and there.

It always will. If we beat TAMU then it will be Alabama will be our big test. If we beat them then Mizzou will be it. I have said it multiple times now, the Vols are the Rodney Dangerfield of CF. it seems whatever we do or whoever we beat, that team is obviously not very good and we havent been tested by a legit team. Its beyond comical at this point.

I think most of us complaining are thrilled with the win. It simply shouldn't have been a win based on a successful Hail Mary. We were better than this team and should have handled them like Ole Miss did last week.

I know this win will be remembered for years; I would have preferred a Bulldog beat down that wasn't so exciting.

I'm fine with Jones choosing to trust his defense considering they gave us the score to take the lead.

Butch said in the post game he thought about throwing it and winning it right there but situational football was to make them burn the timeouts.

Our Defense was playing GREAT and we have a bad a$$ punter. That was the smart move. Period.

We lost two or three games last year when Jones opted to be ultra-conservative and just run the ball, the offense did nothing--and then naively thought our defense would win the game. We lost them all.

And he did the same thing today--and the fact is, it blew up in his face again, and some miraculously last second TD doesn't change that. We lose this game 99 of 100 times. This notion that we're going to stop solid teams with time enough to score is crazy. Make one first down and win the game, and stop hoping your defense will bail you out. College DBs are notoriously unreliable. What's more, defenses expect us to run the ball and be conservative late: why not throw a safe pass to the TE and win the game when you have a chance to win it? Have some balls. Being conservative WASN'T the smart thing to do because the defense again gave up a TD. AGAIN.

Can't seem to put a game away, have not figured it out yet. They're probably relying on the "chart" but dang surely you can figure out a way to get it done.
