From a small high school. Not much publicity. Has interest from Morehead State, Cumberland University & Tusculum.
Only 5' 11 & 170 lbs.

Might be someone that Dooley would offer but I don't see bUTch offering him. Too unproven. Too much unknown.

Will be at Alcoa next week in the 3A semis. Seems to lob the ball to his receivers a lot. Pretty accurate but a lot of air. MaxPreps is looking for someone to Qwixcore this game.
Are you going? Sign up to Qwixcore this game.

He's put up astounding numbers this year, passing for 2,419 yards and 35 TDs and rushing for 2,488 yards & 35 TDs while averaging 10.4 yards per carry.

He has put up gargantuan numbers this season: 2,199 yards and 35 touchdowns passing, with only three interceptions, and 2,282 yards rushing and 33 TDs. In last week's 70-49 win over Tyner Academy in the second round of the playoffs, York had nine touchdowns and 711 yards in total offense.

However, "Barton Simmons, a national recruiting analyst for 247Sports who typically knows everything about everybody in Middle Tennessee, hasn't heard much about York. "Definitely, size at the quarterback position is pretty paramount," Simmons said. "If you're under 6-foot you're working an uphill battle. When you add the fact that Upperman is a smaller school that doesn't play the big-school programs and doesn't play a lot of future college players in high school and doesn't get the exposure that other schools get, that's going to compound that disadvantage of being a little bit undersized" (Upperman quarterback flies high, but under radar).

I'm pretty sure Maty Mauk at Mizzou is under 6 ft. although not listed that way. Looks about 5'10" to me.

With these spread offenses, shorter QBs are becoming more common. Even Johnny Football looks barely over 6'.

Been doing a little research since first post (and thanks to those who responded).

I have seen one article that has the kid at 6'1" and 180lbs...so split the difference and call him 6ft and 175...

He has touch and accuracy, but a little too much air under the ball.

He puts up arcade numbers in a QB option style run first spread offense...is apparently fast according to opposing coaches( Chattanooga's Notre Dame HC said he's the best QB they've faced all year.

He seems to make good decisions with the ball (3 interceptions this year), and can win in the close ones (beat Chattanooga's Notre-Dame 19-10 last night) as well as the high scoring ones...

Also plays defensive back and picked off the opposing QB last night to preserve the win...

I don't know squat about recruiting, but he is an in-state kid...I would think he at least deserves a look...but I am no coach.

I just wonder if they know about him...

I was every Upperman home game last year when the kid was a junior and he can play. He was the best athlete on the field in every game I watched. He's listed at 6'1" and 180 lbs and I think he's probably very close to that. I'm not sure he is done growing yet, I could see him topping out at around 6'2". He had a brother play DE at Tennessee Tech so size runs in the family.

The statistics are a little misleading. Upperman runs an Oregon-style offense and they're getting like 75 to 80 offensive plays a game. He's the focal point of the offense for them.

If I were him or his family I'd like to find a lower level college where it was pretty much a given that he would be able to get playing time his freshman and sophomore years. He's the kind of a kid who, if he has a couple of extra years to develop, could be on the juco radar his junior year.

I compare him to Bo Wallace, without some of the size and arm strength but with probably a bit more athleticism.

Coach Fant told someone I know that on film he reminded him of Johnny Football. Now, that doesn't mean he is saying that he is that good and will win the Heisman but that is what came to mind watching him.

Height would be an issue as well as small school but he can't help where he plays. He put up the crazy numbers against Tyner. They are a decent Chattanooga area team.
