I fully realize uconn is UT's hated rival. I realize Vol fans hate Geno A., who is a a jerk. I probably have followed PS and the women's program longer the 95 percent of the program's fans. Summitt is a legend--and nothing pleases me more than seeing her and UT beat Ct. But PS doesn't know how to coach team offense and her style of play IS boring. Yes, you can win a ton of games with defense and rebounding, but it's not fun to watch. PS's team typically shoot quite poorly but they are big and play defense and that works--I get that. The only time UT's offense is any good is when PS has a superstar like Parker--and even then it's basically: throw the ball to the star and let her do her thing. Even with Parker, last year's title was basically due to defense. Summitt had a GREAT, up-and-down the court team in, I think, 2001, when Catchings was a freshman and Holdsclaw was on the team: That group ran and was exciting to watch. But that was the last really dynamic offense team she had--despite the fact that she can get just about any players in the country she wants. She gets top players--but then she scares the offense out of most of them with her fanaticism about defense and rebounding. Pat wins and wins big, but her style of play is stuck in the 1970s. If PS had these group of Ct. players, they'd be scoring 65 points a game instead of 85.
