Okay, Im going to start by saying that this thread is not meant to mean that I think we are going to suck next year, or that I in any way dont like CLK.

With that said, I wanted to ask you gurus around here (or any one really) what there take is on the OL situation for next year. I know we have a QB need right now, but Im sure that the staff with land Scroggins, Reese, Rettig, Laimison (sp?), a combination, or someone that will be able to lead the offense. All are good candidates. What Im worried about is the experience of the line. Coach CLK and O will beef up the depth, and I know we have BB & Co to run through the line and all, but how is our freshman QB and amazing RB-tandem supposed to fair if the line isnt up to par right away? I think its paramount for a quick start in this conference and with a freshman QB to break in, its equally paramount for his confidence to be high and will thus need a solid line performance.

as of now, this is what it looks like next year (i excluded any OL not recruited by the CLK staff):

JeQuari Schofield
Kevin Revis
Hood (he's being converted to an OL right?)
Jose Jose
Marquis Pair
Zach Fulton

thoughts, comments, input, reasurrances please :)

I don't think our o-line play will be as bad as last season... That has to do with switching the line up/blocking schemes. I am more concerned with depth.

UT's thin this year and we'll be thin again next year, but several of the guys that CLK didn't recruit will be starting in 2010. I'd also expect them to add at least three more offensive line recruits. I don't think Hood switching to offensive line is 100% but it makes some sense.

Dallas Thomas, Aaron Douglas, Cody Pope, etc.. could all end up starting next year. A lot of people think Fulton will be able to start as a freshman, Pair probably can't, not sure about Jose. They might look for some JUCO OL guys as well that would be ready to play earlier. It's definitely a point of concern.

Big William Brimfield should be a factor too. We should be fine but I'd like to see a solid JUCO. James Carmon would be nice.

I thought Brimfield quit the team?

I'm pretty sure he hasn't. He was very close to doing so but took some responsibility and turned things around.

There was an article about it recently.

I think we should be fine, we'll find one or two more really big guys. Like the kid from Nashville, and who knows... Maybe ol' Seantrel!

We will have some growing pains early on. It is critical that the coaches get guys like Brimfield, Douglas, Thomas, ect on the foeld THIS year quite a bit. By the end of the year we should be good.

If we can secure a quality signal caller this year we should have a team ready to compete for championships in 2011 IMO.
