Coming home on vacation

Hey guys/gals, I'm coming back to Northeast Tennessee next Sunday for a week to visit family and introduce them to the bride-to-be. I was planning on taking her down to Gatlinburg (she's never seen snow, Hawaii born) to see the sights. After reading the other thread talking about the uber-traffic in Gatlinburg, is there any good time to take her down, or should I just avoid it altogether?

We fly into Tri-Cities on Sunday the 29th and will be leaving the next Sunday. I realize the weekend will probably be the absolute worst time to go, so I was thinking middle of the week, but ya never know and figured I better get clarification. It's been 10 years since I've been back home, so outta the loop on traffic stuff there.

It's been a while since I've been to G-burg, but traffic was always a mess on the weekends, but I believe you only have a real problem with it in Sevierville. Having said that, you don't have to sit in traffic that long. I'd just avoid Friday and Saturday around 5-8.

My dad says that he has a way to get out of G-burg without hitting the traffic. I will give him a call tomorrow and see what the route is.

Thanks for the input OWB, any is appreciated. Ifigured the weekends would be bad, but was curious about the week mostly. I'll prolly bump it later for the morning crowd for the game tomorrow since I know it's almost 1am over there now.

That'd be great! It's been awhile since I've been to Gatlinburg, and I only remember the 1 road going thru Pigeon Forge up to G-burg. Things could have changed alot since then.

My guess is that the week would be ok as long as you don't get there during rush hour or anything.

That'd be great! It's been awhile since I've been to Gatlinburg, and I only remember the 1 road going thru Pigeon Forge up to G-burg. Things could have changed alot since then.

I talked to dad today. I'm not sure if this will help you. He comes from Nashville and hits Hwy 321 on the west side of Knoxville. It takes him 3 1/2 hours from his house to Pigeon Forge. If you are coming from the Tri-cities it probably won't work, but I figured I would pass it along.
